Hi smarthacker67,

Since you've been studying for several months, have you taken any practice CATs yet? If you have, then how did you score (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)? If you have not, then it would be a good idea to take a FULL-LENGTH practice CAT you can download 2 for free from www.mba.com (and they come with some additional practice materials).

The amount of additional study time you will need will depend on your current skills and your overall goal score. Thankfully, you have LOTS of time to work with, so we just have to make sure that you're studying correctly.

I haven't taken Full length CAT. I used to give mini GMAT test which consist 15-20 questions and most time I hit accuracy 55-60%.
Mostly lower side on hard Quants and Verbal.

Hi smarthacker67,

Taking FULL-LENGTH CATs at regular intervals during your studies is a MUST. Since you have not taken one yet, you should plan to take one soon. Make sure to take the FULL CAT (with the Essay and IR sections) and do so in a realistic fashion. Until we have that first score result, we won't have a clear idea of your current skills, strengths and weaknesses. Once you have that score, you should report back here and we can discuss your study options.

Hi,

I can summarize the road map in the following points:

1- Start with preparation for GMAT. I won't go into details. Just follow what Rich advises you. I want to highlight that it will be the wrong step if you quit your job to this. You have plenty of time. You need just organization and strict plan. In those 2 years you can achieve a lot that are meaningful in your resume and application and also can reinforce your relation with recommenders. If you quit now, you will ruin your resume. The gap will be unjustifiable to adcom.

2- if you are international student, you need to plan for TOEFL. Please check the requirements for each school website.

3- Although you will apply later in 2017, you should take a look for the essay to familiarize yourself with essay questions. You may strongly consider to work with a good consultant to shine your story and present you well. GMAT club has a big list of admission consultants. Take your time and review their service and people reviews about them. Now you can search and hire her/him later before application season.

4- Prepare your resume to be ready and every quarter or semi annual update it with your achievements and skills.

I have seen some schools. I have some questions

1-Based on what criteria did you choose them?
2- what is you short term goal and long tern goal?
3- How ma professional Experience do you have? IN what field?
4- What is your GPA?

Good luck
