Waitlisted without interview...Atleast it's better than a rejection

Anybody know the statistics of being accepted if: 1. You interviewed with the school and was waitlisted. AND 2. You didnt interview with the school but was waitlisted. Does one have scenario have a better chance of being accepted compared to the other?
