Does anyone know whether Ross gives a grace period for letters of recommendation?

This question might have been answered earlier in the thread so if that is the case kindly point me to the post. I want to know whether the word limit on multi-part question should be followed strictly. In the sense, I have more things to write than the allotted 150 words for point 1 - why MBA and have less than 150 words to write for point 3 - short term goals. Is it ok if I am within the cum number of words (450) but kinda break the limit for individual sections?

Describe a time in your career when you were frustrated or disappointed. What advice would you give to a colleague who was dealing with a similar situation

The advice to the colleague part - should the advice be about how to prevent the situation from happening again or how the colleague should handle the situation after it has happened?

For eg I did X instead of Y and screwed it up. Now I decided to be mentally strong, composed blah and fix things but I learnt that I should do Y if I am in a similar situation the next time. Should I advice the colleague a) to be mentally strong, composed blah or b) he or she should do Yninstead of X in the future?

People that have already applied, what did you do for the 5x7 photo?

Was it a business/professional photo?
A photo that showed off your personality?

I'm not sure what angle to take with this. Please help!

I interpreted it as individual maximums of 150 words since all that was mentioned was "150 words" for each part. Pretty sure they are looking for very concise answers to each question similar to Fuqua which sets individual maximums as well.

It's something that a colleague may be dealing with now that is similar to what you've already gone through. Using your example your advice to your colleague would be a) be mentally strong and composed and b) he or she should do Y (X has not happened to your colleague yet although it may have happened to you).

I went with more personality and used a photo of me in my Michigan shirt! Can't go wrong with a professional photo but since Ross cares about 'fit', I would go with a personality photo if you think it is appropriate.

Has anyone received a ding? Or everyone who's not been accepted has been waitlisted?

I personally believe WL without interview is as good as a ding, just that the news will not hit you hard as it would have otherwise. A 2-step process compared to the 1-step for the others. Not that one may not get through, but its as good as a miracle if one gets through then. I would advice to move ahead with the next plan.
That is not true. If the school wanted to ding you, it would have dinged you. I personally known of cases of applicants who have converted a WL w/o interview into acceptance at Fuqua. I am sure the same can be said at Ross. If you got WL w/o interview, it behooves you to try harder to prove yourself in the interview. There is only so much AdCom can gleam from a paper application. It is the interview that allows your drive and motivation to come out.

I think you're putting a little too much significance into the photo. I personally uploaded a photo I took on my webcam and got admitted...

Hey guys - Is there not a section in the Ross app about extracurriculars both in undergrad and since then? It looks like page 7 is "activities and honors", but when I get there it says...

"This page is only required for Master of Accounting, Master of Management and Master of Supply Chain applicants."

You are correct, you do not have to fill this out to complete the application. If they are important, make sure you mention them on your resume and/or in your essays!

Great. Thanks. I was just finishing up my app and was like wait, there isn't an extracurriculars section here like every other app so wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something.

This was a deliberate omission by Ross. Here's a blog entry by Soojin Kwon about this aspect of the application.

I was wondering how people who have had multiple promotions or have changed jobs more than twice are filling out this page in the Ross Application? At best, I can split my work ex into three sections - Company 1, Company 2 -India, Company 2 - US, but the application doesn't give me an option to add a Work Ex 3 :-(.

Anyone else struggling with it? Any R1 applicants who can shed light on what they did?
