Well initially those questions helps to build ur base and concepts. So that becomes important to practice. Once done it will be much easier to tackle the official questions.

Hi everyone, I am doing self study this time.
Last time I prepared from Jamboree.

So for quant I am studying/ revising my concepts from Manhattan 6 books; They are really good and complete within themselves.

However, I am not sure what practice material should I refer once am done with the theory!!

Basically a practice set and then sectional tests.

Any way ahead on the same would be really helpful.

Only OG for quant was not too challenging. Is it completely ok to do only that much. I mean I am open and feel prepared to take on some hard questions as well

I would recommend instead just getting good fiction books because they will engage you more. Magazines are nice but articles are short. You can’t and won’t spend days reading them and you will keep moving from topic to topic which you may care deeply or not at all. While it seems like GMAT, you will not as engaged or satisfied as reading a nice plump fiction book. That’s my advice - read books instead of magazines. You will get there faster. I have a topic about it called GMAT Fixtion

Oops. GMAT Fiction

Hi All, I am currrently on week 2 of the study plan and solving the assumption CR questions
To put it forth along with my frustration, I just don’t get what to look for in assumption questions

For example , below question,
I just fail to apply process of elimination because I don’t even undertsand what needs to be done in assumtion questions...
For the below question I just solved, I simply winged it by saying E might be the answer and it turned out to be right

But that obviously isn’t the right approach...
Can someone please explain a bit how to solve assumption questions?

This is the question I am talking about - bank-depositors-in-the-united-states-are-all-financially-protected-aga-63628.html

You have to look at what is "unstated"

Let me give an example:
Mark is the best baker in New York. There is a baking competition in New York next week. As Mark is the best baker, he will surely win the competition.

While this might seem like a perfectly logical sentence, there are actually an infinite number of assumptions made in bridigng the premise (mark is the best baker) to the conclusion (mark will win)

One such assumption, is that we have assumed that mark will attend the competition - he cannot win if he doesnt attend

With that small example, you can list an endless number of assumptions - but the key point is that they are unstated, but necessary for the argument to reach its conclusion.

As for how to actually solve
You can try the negation technique. Take the opposite of statements, and see how the argument behaves in light of it

Hi apologies for the delayed response,
I understand the approach, something that will be needed to bridge the reason to the conclusion...
Look for what is unstated, will try right now

On the negation one, I don’t want to heavily rely on it but will also try this

Thank you so much for the detailed explanation, will get back once I make improvements!
