Thanks for the replies. Seeing as I will not be able to secure a recommendation letter from this job, would it be OK to get another recommendation letter from a previous job that I already have a LOR from? For job 1 (the earlier job) I had a manager and supervisor, would it be OK for both my LOR to be from the same company? Or would it raise even further flags?

That’s probably fine as long as they can speak towards different aspects of your work/personality etc. — it probably won’t be too helpful for your app if the letters are very similar.

It’ll also give you an option in the app to write why you couldn’t provide a recommendation from your current supervisor.

It is normal to ask former supervisor to write LOR. However, some schools, such as Tuck and Emory, asks for clarification through their optional essay, if you choose persons other than supervisors (current or former), for example: clients. Other schools do not consider writing optional essays such as UNC-KF. 1

If you have only recommender required, make sure to be a supervisor. It will be better for you.
