Waitlisted.

They don't have overlapping R1 and R2 this time. Maybe they want to take a good look at the R2 applicants before scanning the waitlist I guess. They were not known to waitlist so many people. This I'm sure is a consequence of the change in their round structure this year.

My first thought was "this is great more people than before will be admitted", but then I realized it's more competitive. In fact it's possible that all it means is that it's more competitive. It's possible that they just didn't ding anyone.

Its not just Tepper. This year a lot of top 40 BSchools have reported a spurt in number/quality of applications. Dont know what changed this year .

Waitlisted.

They don't have overlapping R1 and R2 this time. Maybe they want to take a good look at the R2 applicants before scanning the waitlist I guess. They were not known to waitlist so many people. This I'm sure is a consequence of the change in their round structure this year.

Ah! I was just being optimistic :) Maybe just trying to console myself. Yeah. Definitely, competitiveness may also be a factor. Guess we'll find out after a long wait!

What I meant by competitiveness is that if there are more people on the waitlist, it'll be that much more competitive, but maybe they also admitted fewer people and are waiting for round 2. In other words I hope the waitlist increase came from the accepteds and not the dings and there will be more accepted spots in subsequent rounds.

P.S. I will bet the answer is no, but do WL people get any preferential treatment at all?

BTW, it sort of worries me that you guys on top of me got waitlisted with your GMAT and work experience. Your profiles seem daunting.

I don't think a waitlist means much now... They don't seem to have rejected anyone... So the decision itself seems to be either an accept or a waitlist...

Well, this is my third app cycle and one thing I've realized is that Adcoms mean it when they say: "GMAT is only ONE of the components of your application" :)

Don't worry. As long as you're around their mean GMAT, you should be fine.

Touche. Everyone's profiles are very daunting mate. When you are battling for the top 20 colleges, its best to not consider who your competition is.

Yeah but the work experience is pretty impressive too.

Well the question is are all of the waitlists taken from the dings or are they also more cautious with those they accept? If it's the former that's depressing, if it's the latter, there are more spots this year, so somewhat encouraging.

Yup... Between this and what seems to be like a waitlist from McCombs as well which I received today, Dec 17 would officially be the most depressing day of the year for me... :(

Except you got in to Olin and I may be shutout and my GMAT expires this year. I don't think I want to study for it again, 3 of the worst months of my life. It's possible I just don't go to business school and either try to switch over to finance some other way or stay in my industry,

That is true.. I am grateful for that.. Olin is an awesome school and can give everything I'm looking for in an MBA... But Tepper was just one of those schools where I thought I had a chance of getting in and it does hurt in a little way... Anyway I gave all my apps my best shot with what I have.. No regrets for me.... If I need some consolation(in a twisted way) I head up to the Stanford thread and look at all the incredibly awesome short-of-adjectives profiles that have been rejected... An MBA is definitely not the only way forward... I always believe that once you give your best effort things will always eventually work out for the best... I'll stop now since I don't want to get too preachy here... All the best to everyone (Accepted as well as Waitlisted)

So many sad stories ! Although, it's comforting to see partners riding on the same ship. A ding and two w/l's in less than 8 days ! It has been very hard to take.

Except those Stanford rejects will end up going to Kellogg or something.

Did anyone from India get an admit at all? All I see are waitlisted candidates.
