1)Yes, Since Olsen Model has the smallest engine size of 3 along with the least amount of horsepower and PTZ and Granato are also least in hp

2)No,biota(lightest model) doesn't produce the most hp per pound since other models produce more hp per pound

3)No, since The model with the lowest dollar-per-horsepower ratio is T-400(67.93)while the model with the lowest price is Tesco (24120)

crux is the last Q.

Use 310/5.7 as reference = 54.xx To get a lower HP per L, we either need lower HP, or larger L or both. My approach is:
1) filter the table by HP, you see only four cars fewer HP than 310. all of them have materially lower Engine size, with a quick math 300/4.6 also larger than 54.

2) filter by engine Size, you see a range of car at the bottom more than 5.7L, amongst which the smallest HP and biggest L is 400/6.2 = obviously 60 -> confirm Tesco has the lowest ratio.

Dear friend
Sajjad1994
for the first question :The model with the smallest engine and at least one other model both rank last in the amount of horsepower they produce.

we can see that smallest engine (3) and some other small engines rank last in the Hoursepower, BUT SURPRISINGLY, THE greatest engine size (6.2) also have 300 Hoursepower!. So how the answer to this question is YES?

My approach for Question 2:

Lightest model (sorted the list by weight) = Biota

Horsepower per pound = 430/3208

For any other model to have a greater ratio of HP/Weight, there are two things to consider

1. Weight of all other models is greater than that of Biota
2. Thus, Horsepower of such a model will have to be > 430, only then will HP/Weight be greater than 430/3208 (Biota's value)

Only 2 models satisfy criteria #2: Victor (500) & Chaffer (540)

Calculated and compared ratios for these 3 models. The ratio is highest for Victor model.

Hence, false

Approximation won’t work here.
Limit the number and calculate.
Biota has 430/3208 we need a numerator greater than 430 and denominator less than 3208. Victor and Chaffer has higher numerator. But, same time denominator also increase. We have to calculate here as they are very close in value.
Biota = 430/3208=0.134
Chaffee = 540/3920=0.137

I don't really get with the first statement, since the "The model with the smallest engine and at least one other model" this referring to Olsen and Gazelle, while Gazelle Horsepower is 306 instead of 300. Your answer referring to PTZ and Granato which both have 300 Horsepower but the engine sizes are not the two smallest.
yashikaaggarwal
Statement 1: The model with the smallest engine and at least one other model both rank last in the amount of horsepower they produce.
Explanation: Olsen Model have the smallest engine size of 3 as well as the least amount of horsepower is produced by Olsen as well as PTZ and Granato. So first statement is true.

Statement 2: The lightest model produces the most horsepower per pound of vehicle weight.
Explanation: Biota is the lightest weight model which produces less horsepower per pound of vehicle weight at least 2 other models, hence the statement is False.

Statement 3: The model with the lowest dollar-per-horsepower ratio is also the model with the lowest price.
Explanation: T-400 model has the lowest dollar-per-horsepower ratio, while the model with the lowest price is Tesco, Hence the statement is False.

The question says: The model with the smallest engine and at least one other model both rank last in the amount of horsepower they produce.

So, if we look at the last rank of the amount of horsepower i.e. 300, do we find the smallest engine as well as at least one other model car there?

Yes, we find 3 cars with 300 HP, one of them is the smallest engine car.

Thus, we do have the smallest engine and at least one other model such that both of them rank last in HP.

Answer: Yes.

Isn’t the first statement incorrect, as it should read something like this
“The model with the smallest engine and at least two other model both rank last in the amount of horsepower they produce.”

Your allowed to use a calculator so its extremely quick to check possible solutions. It took me maybe 30 seconds to scan the list for a greater power to weight ratio and confirm it. Just look for numbers that are similar (or very different and stand out) in the Power and Weight columns to the lightest car and you can figure it out.
