Average salary of the group = $850
Average salary of 7 workers = $1000;
Total salary of 7 workers above the average of the group = 7*(1000-850) = 7*150
Average salary of x workers = $780
Total salary of x workers below the average of the group = x*(850-780) = 70*x
Step 2: Calculation
Total salary of 7 workers above the average of the group = Total salary of x workers below the average of the group
7*150 = 70*x
x = 15
Total number of workers = 15+7 = 22

We can understand from the question:
The average salary per head of all the workers in a workshop is $850.
Total salary(TS)/Total Workers(W) = 850
TS = 850W
If the average salary per head of 7 technicians is $1000
Tech total/ 7 =1000
Tech total = 7000
the average salary per head of the rest is $780
(TS - Tech total)/W-7 = 780
(TS - 7000)/W-7 = 780
find out the total number of workers in the workshop.
(850W - 7000)/W-7 = 780
W = 22
