A is the answer.
The "letting artists" part is a verb ing modifier modifying the previous clause by associating with the subject "some galleries".
Opt B There is no conjunction connecting the two clause. We need a conjunction after the comma. Moreover, "to themselves" is unnecessary. We should avoid "to themselves" Construction here.
Opt C The most lucrative option which is wrong. Here "letting" is presented as a Independent action. GMAT always want to go with the original meaning. Based on that this option is little bit on the weaker side but to me it was a good option until I met "to themselves".
Opt D and E is completely absurd as they made a second clause and used simple present tense in the second clause. Shift in tense is unnecessary here. And then we have "to themselves" in E.
