Hi,

Wanted to know whether R2 Indian applicants have received interview invites? Can someone tell me. Also is the India interview with an alum or with a member of an adcom.

Regards,

Just wondering,..is there a rhyme or reason to when the invites go out? I knew a few went out last Friday. I'm an R2 Consortium applicant losing hope fast,..a ton of R2's seem to have gotten invites already. Is the invite window almost done? Do invites come out daily? Is there a pattern? I'm going crazy from the silent treatment from Yale and Darden!!!

I'm in the same boat as you, except I'm not Consortium. Even though my GPA is below the average, I assumed that I would receive an invite: 750 gmat, 3.1 GPA in finance from a top 15 undergrad business school, 3 years WE in consulting including a promotion, strong EC's including volunteer work, and I've shown much Yale love including a campus visit. Whats the deal??

this is completely anecdotal but it seems from monitoring things here and on btg that they have only really been releasing int invites on thurs/fridays and that there was a bunch really early and since then it's been trickling a couple here and there every week. i assume this will continue through most of feb, not sure if the deadlines are earlier for consortium, but while annoyed i don't think i will really *worry* until close to the end of the month.

Just wanted to add that SOM had their Winter Welcome for R1ers yesterday, and I know that probably took up a great majority of the AdCom's bandwidth for the last week or more, so there may be more invites sent out at the end of this week since WW is now over.

For those interested, Winter Welcome was pretty spectacular. We got about an hour with Dean Snyder to discuss vision, we had career panels, a lunchtime preview of what the typical finance class will look like (awesome), and lots of time to socialize, make new friends, scope out prospective roommates, and meet the people we'll be spending the next 2 years with. If you get in R2, definitely make sure to go to Welcome Weekend in April. I may even go back, just to get another chance to meet everyone. Supernerd, I know.

Hi, I'm a college senior applying to the silver scholars program and was invited to interview. Does anybody know what's the format of interview for silver scholars? Any differences from normal MBA program?
Any input appreciated.

Does Yale release results only on the notification date. If no, what percentage of results are declared before the notification date?

thevillageMBA I was on the wait list and was offered enrollment at the end of January. I think my case is the exception as I am active duty military and needed to know before the end of January or the Army was going to send me to another school. They do review the wait list periodically. It may have helped that I received a significant promotion at the end of December. I also wrote another essay clearly explaining my post mba goals. Good luck, I know it can be challenging waiting to hear back.

Thanks iglesias9158 & congratulations! The feedback I received was to explain my career goals a bit more clearly.

Got my interview in a couple days and just caught a cold! Pretty bummed about that, but drinking lots of water, green tea, and taking whatever I can to get over it quickly.

Had a quick couple questions for everyone: Is a thank you email and a mailed written thank you note excessive? Should it just be one or the other?

How does everyone feel about reaching out to everyone I've been in touch with before to keep them posted that I've completed the interview and thank them once more for their help throughout the process? (ie, AdCom members I've been in touch with, professors, students, etc).

I'd say that one or the other would be fine, (depending on which method you like better. Handwritten is personal, but e-mail is timing appropriate). Both may be a little excessive.

I kept in touch with everyone who'd asked me to keep in touch with them, which included current students and alumni. I only got in touch with the AdComs if I had a question, or if Bruce e-mailed me something specific that I felt I could reply to, (this happened about a week before decision notifications - he and the AdCom sent something to everyone telling us we were in the home stretch).

I am thinking about applying Yale in R3.
Does GMAT 690 good enough to get an interview in R3 or potential scholarship?
Does Yale offer scholarship in R3 round?

Thanks

Yale B-school wants a piece of the spotlight

Link
Ever since Yale University launched its School of Organization and Management in 1976, the place has been something of an unconventional business school. Its founders envisioned a school that would be small, communal, unorthodox, and steeped in theory and research, able to groom leaders for both business as well as the public and non-profit sectors.

But the decision to avoid creating another me-too business school has had some unintended consequences. For years, SOM has unsuccessfully battled the misperception that it is merely a school for non-profit management, a haven for do-gooders outside the MBA mainstream. And despite basking in the glow of one of the world's most valuable educational brands, the school has never been able to develop the stature of any of its Ivy League rivals.

Enter Edward "Ted" Snyder, the 58-year-old veteran dean who signed on as SOM's new leader last fall. He arrived with extraordinarily high expectations. "I like what I do so I don't feel pressure," says the soft-spoken Snyder. "I feel really good about the prospects here. I've been at business school deaning for awhile so it gives me the credibility to say, 'Folks, this is what we face.'"

Snyder is more than just another dean in a hot seat. Having served as dean at two other major business schools -- the University of Chicago and the University of Virginia -- he's something of a business school physician. He worked magic at Chicago's Booth School of Business, bringing in the largest gift to any business school ever -- $300 million -- nearly doubling the school's endowed professorships, tripling scholarship assistance, and moving Chicago to the very top of BusinessWeek's influential rankings.........................continue

I am not sure about Yale, but Most schools do not offer scholarships in R3 and applying that late is a real crapshoot. While you can gain admission it is significantly harder than in R1 or R2.
