Here's to hoping they're not releasing information purely at a FIFO rate. I've seen two people who submitted after me get invites. So - doesn't really bode well for me if they are, in fact, following an order.

It's been posted before.... but the Booth blog states:

"It’s important to note that the order of how we will release decisions from Monday through Friday is random and not indicative of your admissions decision, geography or initial application date."

It doesn't appear that they're doing FIFO, LIFO, etc.

It's supposed to be random.

I submitted the day after my recommenders - on 10/2 around lunch time.

@mustang, I know it says it will be random, but in another article they specifically mention that they handle them in a FIFO queue.

Heh. If any school denies you, just show that school in the future why that was a mistake. Use it as motivation to work even harder!

All this waiting got me wondering:

For those in the US, but not in the chi-town area... what is the general school of thought on alum vs. on-campus interview?

and... does that thinking change if the person has or has not visited campus/toured/etc?


Pretty much everything I've ever read says doing it on campus is the best way to go - even though all schools say "all interviews are equal". I assure you, if I get an interview my ass is flying to Chicago.

For Booth it really doesn't matter either way. If you feel better flying to campus for the interview that's cool. We'll welcome you with open arms. However, no one should feel as though they're at any disadvantage if they don't come to campus for the interview (especially if you've already visited).
