Hey guys! Didn't receive an early admit! Kinda bummed. So the final Round 1 decision deadline is Jan 28. Can we expect to hear anything before that? Or only on the deadline date?

Same here. No update. Probably because the application was not "complete" till 1st week of December and hopefully they are still reviewing my application. :roll:

I guess there have been lesser admits than last year. But I'm not sure that's necessarily a positive sign. Moreover, from last year's thread, is there any indication that ppl who get interviewed in early november do get in the final decision? I've heard it's usually a ding or a wait list (I dunno which is worse) :( Hope that things are different this year though!

Since nobody complained of not getting fellowship while everyone else is getting one, it seems reasonable to assume that this year fellowship are handed out early and regular admits are given on the deadline.

Anybody know how many % of people receive fellowship from anderson?

I remember reading somewhere that fellowships are given to top 30%. Just to give you guys some more hope, the 2016 Anderson Facebook Group (They send out link with your offer of admission), only has 35 people, and about 10 of them are adcoms/current students...so it's safe to say that not that many admits have gone out. R1 should have 300+ acceptances (although some of those will be on waitlist at some point). Granted, not everyone who was accepted joined the facebook group, but still seems like there should be more there. Anyways, I emailed the adcom asking how many decisions were released/if they'll be another release before the 28th, I'll let you guys know if they tell me (edit: got auto reply, they're out of office until Jan 2).

To the accepted students, why is no one posting in the facebook group haha?

Hi guys,

Do you have any ideas why adcom asked me to send official degree certificates while my application status says "complete"? Those certificates are optional, since transcripts showed the degree types.
I emailed adcom but they still insist on the request. :(

Actually, I don't want to send them over, because they are the only copies that I have.

Hey Wize,

You will not get the admission decision until you submit the hard copies to the school. UCLA doesn't even require your official GMAT score when you are applying. But, once you are invited for interview, you are supposed to send all things official in the stipulated time frame. You can ask your school for another set of official copies by paying a fee(my alma matter charges 100$ for that :( ).

For my case, the degree certificate is the only copy that we have, no chance to issue the 2nd one.

Hey Wize,

My case is same as yours. I have only one original degree certificate copy and adcom insisted on sending it to them. I mentioned in my cover letter clearly that it is sole copy. They made a photocopy and duly sent it back to me. It is a risk we got to take for our application to get a final review. Hope this helps.

Not sure. But if it is your only copy then you mention it in the cover letter. They should send it back irrespective of the result.

Same situation here,

UCLA told me that a photocopy with a seal from my undergrad university would be enough. Hope you can get something like that.

I had a pretty long conversation with an Anderson student who was a student admissions rep. One of the things he mentioned was that this was the most competitive round 1 ever. I'm assuming they're waiting until Round 2 applications are in to see if it remains as competitive before deciding on a majority of round 1 people.
