My app is still under review for R1. Ad com director told me that they have received lot of applications hence they will send invites in Dec 1st week as well. 6-Dec is decision due date and that leaves only 4 business days.

Is there anyone else who is waiting for interview invite for R1?

The wait is On. An Adcom member told me that the results would not be out before 6th.

But I believe it may come a day or two before that. Hoping for the best. Good luck to all.

As kunzi mentioned, even my interviewer said that I will get the result on December 6th.
Does anyone know whether they call or only send emails?

I would be surprised if everyone get's their status updates this Friday. Roughly 300 people applied in R1 and it would be impossible to telephone that many people in one day. Also, Rice differentiates themselves from larger programs with their personalized touch and it would be inconsistent for them to send out a bunch of emails. It seems most likely that they will do what they did in the past according to last years thread. That is:

Wed: telephone accepted international applicants
Thurs: telephone accepted domestic and international applicants
Friday: AM send out email to everyone stating their status has been updated (the applicants must log into their account to find out.
all day: telephone all accepted applicants whom they didn't speak with yet

As per US News rankings, acceptance rate for full time program is between 25 to 30%, assuming 50 acceptances in R1, total applicants will be between 160 to 200

Called ad com a while back and I am told that applicant can get invite on 6-Dec morning as well and decision will be posted on 6-Dec. In case you don't get an invite then you are 'Denied without Interview'. App Status will be updated on 6-Dec.

btw, ad com told me that my app is still completed and under review. They have lot of apps to review in R1.

Very slim hope.

I was under the impression that most schools only called accepted applicants (probably around 100 in R1 @ Rice). Def possible for adcom to divide up ~100 accepted students to individual officers and call them all within a few hours. I'd expect to hear on the 6th.
