Thanks for the responses jojojoseph and shyamnambiar.

Did the R1 candidates post their experience somewhere? Any specific leads on how to prepare for the interview?

Check page 19 where in ankur posts interview preparation kit. It is good stuff.

There are few experiences posted by R1 applicants after that page.

This was Ankur's post which might be very helpful for all those who would get an interview call.

Guys, here is a post that will help you to prepare for your interview systematically.
I would recommend you not to wait till the time you get your interview call to start preparing.
You just get 5-7 days and suddenly you wish that you should have started earlier

First things first, Get a notebook.
Bifurcate your questions broadly under the following heads:

Questions about YOU
Eg: elevator pitch, strength, weakness etc.

Questions about what you do
Eg: job profile, challenges, team skills, leadership skills etc

Questions about what the company does
Eg: clients, market trends, domain etc

Questions about learning and experience
Eg: what did you learn at work place, extra curricular. How did you use it etc.

Questions on Goals
Eg: Long term, short term goals. Ho to achieve without MBA, ISB

Why MBA
The must question :)

Why ISB
Another one. Make sure you research well. Go through the brochure, website, find clubs etc.

Post MBA questions
Eg: Post MBA industry, desired job profile. what if you do not get it.

what if not MBA
Plan B

Think of as many questions as you can and put them under one or the other category. Now think about the answers to each question.

After this, open your essays. Read them and try to find as many questions as you can find.
For Eg: if you have written some number, make sure you know how that is derived.
Questions bout your innovation. hat else could have been done etc.

Give your essays to someone else and ask then to find the questions from the essay.

One final thing: while thinking of the answers, try to focus on the learning not the task performed.
For instance if you worked for a NGO, tell what did you learn and what did you contribute.
do not just say that you worked for the NGO. Not gonna help...

Also here is a link for the ISB Preparation Kit: ISB Preparation Kit
This should also help you. I will try and compile the latest kit soon.
Till then please use this.

All the best!

I gave my GMAT on 13th Jan and submitted the app on 15th Jan. Can I expect the 'application verification mail' before they receive the official score or they will wait till they get the score?

FROM ISB Admissions Blog: Transform uncertainty into confidence, with ISB’s YLP

Have you made up your mind about getting an MBA from a premium B-school?

You are still in college and not sure if you want to Join a B-school right away or get some prior experience?

Transform your uncertainty into confidence, with ISB’s Young Leaders Programme (YLP), and get a 2-year head start in your quest to a world-class management programme.

YLP is a challenging foundation programme designed for pre-final or final year students pursuing their undergraduate or post graduate degrees. YLP gives you exposure to world-class faculty who mentor and familiarise you with the principles of leadership and business management through the YLP Learning Weekends . YLP also provides a great professional networking opportunity with ISB community and other high caliber YLP peers.

Getting in YLP also guarantees you a much sought after admission into the flagship management programme -PGP at the Indian School of Business’ which essentially means that -You make it to YLP, you have your future secured!

Admission to the YLP is a three stage process:

STAGE 1 – APPLICATION

This stage includes your application form, one essay and an application fee.

[*]Application Form: Login to the online application portal here  and begin filling it in segments.[/*]
•  Applicant Information – Fill this section with your personal and contact details. Be very careful with the spellings and make sure the name you enter is the same as on your passport because your PGP certificate will be issued on that name.
 • Educational Details – Use this to show your academic potential. Details about your class X, XII and either one, or all of your under-graduate, post graduate or integrated programme must be filled here.
 • Awards and Activities – This is mainly to evaluate your personality based on your interest and performance in extra-curricular activities.
The admission process at ISB is holistic and measured; hence these details play a significant role.

[*]Essay: You are expected to submit one essay in the first stage. Essays play a crucial role in the application process at ISB. It is through your essays that the Admissions Team understands your story, thought process and ambitions.
You have a choice to write on either:

 • Option 1: Write about an incident or set of incidents in your life that had the most profound influence on you. While writing this essay, briefly mention the incident and the impact it has had on your life. (300 words max)
OR

 • Option 2: How would you describe yourself as a person and what are the two qualities / skills / attributes that you wish to further develop in yourself through the ISB Young Leaders Programme? (300 words max)

[*]Application Fee:  A payment of INR 2000/- towards application and processing is to be made. This can be done either through a VISA or Master Credit / Debit card or through the Net Banking option.
The application deadline for stage 1 of YLP, this year, is March 25th, 2016.

STAGE 2 – SHORTLISTING

Once you have made it through the Stage 1, your profile would be assessed on learning potential based on your GMAT score (along with your academic record), leadership skills and personal attributes based on the essays and recommendations.

[*]GMAT Score: Candidates who have cleared stage 1 are to present their official or unofficial GMAT score; you can take the GMAT even on the day of the deadline and submit your test center score. However, you must ensure that your official score report reaches the School within two weeks of the application deadline.[*]Essays: You are also required to submit two more essays in this stage. The topics for the essays will be given to you once shortlisted.
• Recommendation: In addition to this, you must provide one recommendation, preferably from a college faculty/ mentor during internship.
The deadline for Stage 2 is August 31st, 2016.

STAGE 3 – Face to face interview

The final stage of the YLP admission process is a face to face interview at one of the two ISB campuses. You will be called for an interview sometime during September 15 – October 15, 2016. The interview panel gauges your overall profile, communication and leadership skills.

Hi nccdivya and apurvajalit,

Even I have submitted my application in R2.

The news related with shortlisting will be out after a month from the deadline.

nccdivya ; Please check with the admissions team of ISB whether it accepts your application as your recommendation has come after the deadline. By the college parameter all the details in the application have to be completed by 15th Jan.

Thanks

Best wishes
