Hi All,

I am scheduled to appear for the GMAT on Thursday, 16th July. I have been studying for about two months now and I feel like I have covered the portion.
So, about a week ago I took a full GMATPrep test (including IR and AWA) and scored a 730.

I had been scoring 670 - 680 consistently on Manhattan tests before that so a 730 was kind of a surprise.

However, I took a Veritas Prep test today(because I had run out of Manhattan tests) and scored a 630!

So now, I am kind of confused regarding which score should I consider most accurate.
Is it possible that the GMATPrep score was a one-off incident because of easier questions or some similar reason?

I don't have a lot of time left to prepare, so a 630 is kind of freaking me out.
Could anyone tell me what is the general accuracy range of the private tests like Veritas and Manhattan?

Thanks

Hey anibjoshi

We can't comment for other tests but do note that no test prep company's algorithm will exactly match the real thing. The best we can do is get close.

You can always take a free GMAT PILL practice test here complete with detailed performance and timing analytics: https://www.gmatpill.com/gmat-practice-t ... ctice-test

In terms of our scoring, many of our students report scores that are +/- 30 points from their actual GMAT test and so are a relatively good indicator of their performance. That said, no practice test can perfectly replicate the actual score algorithm, but this is quite close.

Wow, I'm experiencing the exact same thing as you. Been getting 660 and 620's on MGMAT and Veritas respectively. And just got 710 on my gmatprep. I also had a case where I got V28 but the # of incorrect was the same as the tests where I got V35. For me personally I've decided not to read too much into Veritas scores.

Best of luck!

On my first Manhattan I got a 720 (Q43, V45) and the second one I got a 690 (Q38, V45). I was feeling confident about the verbal until I took the official GMATPrep and got a 700 (Q48, V38).

I think the Manhattan quant is harder than the official, and the verbal is easier than the official. This seems to be the pattern for most tests. Some of the Manhattan quant questions made me dizzy (and I was a math major!) but I've never seen anything like them on the official questions. I wouldn't trust any of the other algorithms for an accurate score (though third party tests are good for more questions and better explanations).

Do not worry so much and do not read too much into the CAT scores. The only scores that really matter are the GMATPrep scores.

Though the CATs are helpful but they should ONLY be used more for pacing, for stamina building and for identification of weak areas.

Do not worry too much about the scores and percentiles.Though a high score is always a great confidence booster. :) :)

Each test company has ITS OWN STYLE of writing questions especially on the verbal. I am sure that you will score better once you practice a few more Veritas CAts.

As far as Test Prep company CATs versus GMATPrep is concerned, remember- MIMICRY IS NOT THE BEST FORM OF ART.

Hi anibjoshi,

So how did it go in your actual test?
I am interested to know how the real score compares to those of Veritas and Manhattan!

Thanks!

I scored a 720. So it turns out, the GMATPrep is more accurate than the Veritas and Manhattan scores.
