I'm not an expert on these exams, but I think to achieve such a jump practice will be key, and that takes time. If I were in your shoes I would first try to push back my test date as far back as I can to get at least 4 weeks of study. Some schools allow for test scores to be submitted after the application deadline.  If you have no choice, learn any quant basics that you need to learn, do as many practice questions as you can, and read up on strategy.

I agree. You are some ways away from your target score

I would say that the official tests are helpful in determining your score but taking tests is not going to improve your score… and you want to figure out what specifically is pulling your score down. Sometime it’s knowledge of the material and sometimes it’s poor time management.

If it is knowledge of the material, should be pretty straightforward to fix. Just get a Kaplan math workbook for quant or Manhattan guides for basically everything.

Hi all, adding my experience here.

I prepared for the EA for around 10 hours a week over the past four weeks using the official GMAC EA Practice Exams and Practice Questions. My background is heavy in data analysis and quant, so I mostly focused on the Verbal side of the equation.

From the four practice tests, I got the following overall scores:
Practice #1 - 171
Practice #2 - 160
Practice #3 - 163
Practice #4 - 164

I consistently scored high on IR and Quant, with my weakest questions by far being the verbal grammar questions.

Just took the EA today in person on March 20, 2024.  Somehow I scored 174 on the actual exam with 18s across the board! Absolutely shocked.

I found the IR and Verbal sections for the actual exam significantly easier than the practice exams, to the point where I was questioning if I was getting tricked. I finished both sections with >10 minutes left. The Verbal grammar questions in particular were an order of magnitude easier compared to the practices, with almost every question focusing on the same grammatical concepts.

The only part I found more difficult was the quantitative side -- I got tripped up on a couple questions and got squeezed for time at the end. Managed to finish the last question with only 5 seconds to spare. I would really recommend using the official practice materials -- I felt like I had seen almost every question before for IQ and Quant (just with different numbers!) so there were no surprises.

Incredible, congrats on an excellent score! Which programs are you targeting? I assume this would make you very competitive.

Thank you! I'm based in the Netherlands so I'm considering the following four programs:
- LBS EMBA
- INSEAD GEMBA
- Chicago Booth EMBA (London)
- Kellogg-WHU EMBA

I feel a lot better about these now with the score, so hoping one of them comes through.

Hi People, Thanks for the clarity earlier.

Also just wanted a clarity scoring 575/805 in GMAT or EA 151/200 which is easy?

Was confused to go for GMAT or EA. Can anyone of you please help?

Deadline is April End. Scored 138/200 in EA. Not much option left.

It appears the GMAT Focus now has very similar sections and content as the EA, so you would likely need to study the same material regardless of the exam you choose. The GMAT Focus has more questions and takes 45 minutes longer than the EA, so that is definitely something to consider when making a choice.

Hello everyone. I used TTP and scored a 162 on the EA (13 IR, 15 V, 14 Q).
I found the video content of TTP extremely helpful, to work through the process of elimination and how to "think" on the EA.
During the sentence correction I literally could hear the guy's voice telling me why certain answers were wrong.
All in all, super impressed with TTP. It does take a TON of time to get through - and I did not complete the verbal reading comprehension portion or any of the IR. I just finished the quant portion completely and most of the verbal SC and then I had to take the test - but, I'm so glad I used TTP.

Hi Guys,

I am just transitioning from GMAT (ended with 690) to EA (Goal 162). During the GMAT, I didn't give too much attention to the IR section, but as it carries a lot more weight on the EA, I am trying to prioritize it, and work on the timing. My accuracy with IR is not too bad, but my timing is well almost 3:30. I was wondering, if most of you were able to finish most IR questions within the given time, and if you have any tips and resources that you can share for IR Timing strategies.

Thanks

Started with prepping for the GMAT through TTP which was a grind but ended up getting through it all. Could only muster a score of 600. Decided to switch to the EA and got a practice test score of 154. Went in for an official and scored a 156. Got into Kellogg with that score! TTP was a great resource.

I liked Kaplan’s GMAT Prep Plus for IR strategy. I had trouble timing it as well, but found it helpful to firmly understand what data is presented, read the answers first, and eliminate wrong ones quickly. Setting a firm cutoff time and guessing, while flagging it, helped me a lot. I had a little bit extra time at the end and was able to go back to spend more time on a question I had guessed on. Also, don't forget there is a calculator, getting in Quant mode might throw you off on using it.

I picked EA over GMAT because it really felt more "accessible" given my background (liberal arts) and my current role in operations.

First I started using the official practice tests and question sets and I would say this was a near total waste of time. The only thing keeping it from being that was knowing what my baseline was and where my weaknesses were. I started at a 148 and then just started cranking through question sets.

What a way to waste a month!

Eventually a friend at the school I wanted to attend said to use Target Test Prep and this was a total game changer. TTP gives a framework for understanding the questions and a methodology for improvement, which was totally lacking in the official question set. I went up to a 158 and was even doing practice tests at 160. I honestly probably could have done better if I had started with TTP right away.

It wasn't just the skills either, just getting down the rhythm of how to think through the questions really improved my ability to take the test. In high school and college I never once used the full time but as I've gotten older I've found myself much, much less efficient and in need to that extra support to know how to pace, when to guess, and how to guess strongly to get the most out of it.

I picked a test center and had a pretty great experience honestly. Quiet, clean, and to the point. Everyone there was a pro and I would have struggled to focus in my home. Also getting the test scores that day made a massive difference in my application timeline.

Thanks. Do you mean the IR section of the GMAT Prep Plus book from Kaplan or is there a dedicated IR Book? Looks like the IR Section in the main book is fairly limited?

Hi Guys.

I am transitioning from GMAT (690) to EA (Goal 162) and I have just started working with the Official EA Practice questions set 1. Almost all of the questions I have seen have been below 650 level on GmatClub difficulty level, and many are sub-500. I find this extremely surprising compared to the prep questions of GMAT and I was wondering, if this is consistet with your EA experience and if the practice questions especially in set 1 are an accurate reflection of the actual difficulty of the EA Quant section?

Dear All,

I need your advice: I took the EA exam and got 152 highest. I'm applying FT MBA in the first round.

1) IR: 10, V: 10, Q:12
2) IR: 9, V: 9, Q:14

Do you think it makes sense that I send both scores to schools in order them to see 'full picture' across the three different sections?

Hi everyone,

I'm 33 years old with 10 years of experience in Software Development, and I recently took the Executive Assessment (EA) exam on August 19th, scoring a 154 overall:

  • Quant: 16
  • IR: 10
  • Verbal: 8
I began my preparation with the GMAT Official Guide and later switched to Target Test Prep (TTP), where I completed about 90% of the practice problems. In the official mock tests, I consistently scored around 150-152.

During the actual exam, I felt some nervousness, particularly during the Integrated Reasoning (IR) section. I struggled with the first half due to time pressure, but managed to stay calm and performed much better in the second half. Verbal has been a challenging area for me, but I did relatively well in Critical Reasoning and Sentence Correction.

Quantitative Reasoning was my strongest section, and I gave it my all to score a 16. I’ve applied to the part-time MBA program at NUS and am currently awaiting their decision.

Thank you for reading!
