i'm 32, experience - 12y, commercial banking. Right now i'm working in the biggest commercial bank in the country (Kazakhstan), and responsible for everything that is online: loans, cards, services, payments, e-commerce + analytics (propensity modelling, offers personalization and so on): huge impact on the country as a whole, as we cover 80% of the "financially eligible" population with our products, so i need to improve my managerial and other skills a lot.

Hi Admits of R2, I have a question for you. Last year's thread mentioned that when you sign up for admitted-students portal, you can see number of seats that have been filled so far. What numbers do you see this year?

I am trying to figure out how many seats remain for R3.

Hi,

I am a Petroleum Drilling Engineer from India. 10+ years of work experience and 35 years of age. GMAT 750 (Q49, V42). I had applied in R2 for the Sloan MBA program. I got a reply from adcom on 2nd March 2019 that my profile is more suited for the fellows program and offered me an interview invite. I have a couple of queries:

1. I understand this would be a R3 invite for the SFMBA program starting June 2019. In this case, as an international candidate, do i have sufficient time left for all the admission and relocation formalities. I would be moving with my wife and 3 year old daughter.

2. I will not be sponsored by my company. Choosing this program means huge financial liabilities. Is it advisable for me and is there an assured return on investment. Couldn't find much information on these lines.

Would be grateful if someone can help.

I don't think so. If the data from the decision tracker is any indicator, I don't see any drastic change in the number of applicants this year compared to last year's number.

The decision tracker has 31 applicants for the class of 2020, 26 applicants for the class of 2019, 25 applicants for the class of 2018 and 23 applicants for the class of 2017. In fact, the number of applicants this year is little high as per decision tracker

Hi Anirudh,

To answer another poster who replied to your message, the adcoms probably sees you fit better with the Sloan fellowship program as compared to the 2-year MBA. Now I appreciate the adcom for straight away not rejecting you and directng you to the right MBA program. This is very important for some reasons- 1. the two year versus one year MBA(which may be more suited to you given your age, number of work experience); 2. you will be in a class among peers and senior professionals, who will add more to your learning and make your MBA experience more relevant; 3. the job opportunities will also vary between the two MBA programs.

The timing ofcourse is crucial. If you have to submit a new application, do the interview, wait for an admit and then apply for a visa, then all of this may not be possible to complete by June. I will recommend you reach out directly to the adcom and ask them how you can work this out for this year's intake. Networking matters and if they are aware of your situation, they are likely to help or guide you even for next year.
