Hi and thanks for your post.
Of the two programs you mentioned, the Weekend MBA would be the better fit. While 4 years is a little light in terms of work experience for a part-time program, the Executive MBA is for applicants with closer to 10 years of work experience.
The application process is truly holistic, and admissions will gauge your stats, work experience and extracurriculars. Your stats are about at the average for the Weekend MBA, though without knowing your accomplishments at work as well as your extracurriculars, it is hard to guage your chances. It will also be crucial to clearly convey your story, including what you will add to the classroom despite having fewer than the average number of years of work experience.

I'm happy to to discuss your profile more in depth if you would like to sign up for a free consultation.
Good luck!

Hello and thanks for your detailed post.
The application process is truly holistic, and committees will look at your stats (GPA and GMAT), work experience, and extracurriculars.

Your GPA is strong, so that is a good start. Your GMAT is good too, though compared to others in your demographic, it is below the average for the five schools you listed. If you haven’t already, I suggest taking it up to 3-4 times. You have nothing to lose since schools will only look at your highest score. And even a slight increase can boost your profile. You may still want to illustrate to the schools that you have the academic ability to succeed in the classroom. For example, you could showcase your quant ability in your resume, your recommenders could do the same in their recommendations, or you could even take a supplemental course such as stats or calculus.

Your work experience looks impressive, and it seems like you have been a part of some important accomplishments there. It is nice to see you are a top performer on your team. In your application, make sure to show your impact and all of your leadership and initiatives. Ideally this will be supported by strong recommendation letters as well. It will also be important to explain why you want your MBA, and to also illustrate the skills you already have which are transferable. Be sure your story makes sense, and is realistic and specific.

Regarding extracurriculars, make sure to really emphasize your leadership roles you have taken on. It is great that you have taught underprivileged children. And you can certainly mention – perhaps on your resume – your anecdote on completing the half marathon.

I suggest apply to a few additional schools as well as the competitive schools you listed. In general I recommend applying to reach, target and safety. Hopefully they will see that you have a compelling story.
Good luck!

Hello People,

Would be really grateful if someone could evaluate my profile-

10th grade (2009)- 88%
12th grade (2011)- 88%
BA Hons English (2011-2014)- Delhi University, BA Hons English- 64.5% (1s division)
MA English, Faculty of Arts, Delhi University- 61% (1st Division)
I'm not sure exactly, how this would be converted into the GPA system, but 1st division is very very decent in Arts.
Work Experience- August 2016-August 2018: Account Analyst and then Account Strategist at Yahoo.
August 2018-Present: Working at an established travel company, I lead content, manage a small team of 3 people and a few freelancers and agencies, and I also lead branding and communication.

I am primarily looking to apply in European colleges. Would be great if I could get some inputs on what my chances are, where I should apply and also whether I can qualify for scholarships since that would be fairly crucial in determining my final decision.

Thanks in advance!

Extra Curricular- Musician, Co-owned a record label. Otherwise not much else.
GMAT Score- 720. Quant- 47, Verbal- 42, AWA- 6, IR- 6

Hi Youngun,
Without knowing more about your leadership examples and specific accomplishments, your profile looks like it's heading in the right direction, and you have that background in branding, marketing and communication while also did well enough on the GMAT quant given your lack of quant background. In terms of European programs, it depends a lot upon whether you want a 1 or 2 year option (most in Europe are 1 but not all), and if you have country/region preferences... generally speaking INSEAD and LBS are considered the top 2 and most difficult to get into; not impossible but a reach for you. Then Oxford & Cambridge, which could be worth a shot possible. Then programs such as IESE, IE, ESADE, Rotterdam, IMD, Bocconi, HEC, Imperial.... do some research on curriculum, employment reports, and class profiles for these schools and see what you think. Good luck and keep us posted!

Hi I would like to get all inputs on my profile and your guidance for the same.

Unlike others I have not taken the GMAT but have instead taken the GRE for my MBA applications, will that deter my chances to the schools I am focussing i.e (Canada) University of Toronto, York schuilch.
(USA) University of Indiana-Kelley,
University of Texas, UNC Kenan Flagler.

Profile: Indian female, graduated and Masters in Law from India. Currently working in Singapore.

Class X- 84%
Class XII- 89%

College: Government Law College, Mumbai (5 years course, GPA: second class, the degree does not make a mention of any % awarded to student but only mentions class)
Masters degree: University of Mumbai, (no GPA but only mention of class; second class)

GRE score 310 (but planning to give again, or will this be enough?)

Working profile:
Worked for top law firms in India in the M&A, PE and Project Finance area for 3 years.

Moved to Singapore:(June 2020 will be 2 years)
Wanted to reinvent my career.therefore started to work on
HR tech company for BD.
Currently working with a Fintech start up (start up operated in the payments industry) as the Business partnership and sales manager.

Planning to make application for colleges from Nov 2019- Jan 2020.

Looking at the 2020 Aug intake for the above mentioned colleges.

Extra curricular:
Volunteering activities in India with Various local NGO and Red Cross.

Volunteering activities in Singapore with RedCross.

Why MBA?

I would like to move in a more management centric profile where I can use my horizontal and vertical experience in shaping products and companies.

For immediate remit:
I am looking to move more deeper into tech field and would like to move into a role of a Product Manager where I can channelise my energy to create products/ manage them and sale the product/ teams.

I am very comfortable being both an IC (Individual contributor as well as a team player, but out of 5 years of my career 80% has been as an IC)

Kindly advice if my profile/ or the diversity I being in will be appreciated in the colleges that I am targeting.

Many thanks for your valuable comments.

Hi JaswanthReddy,

Beginning the evaluation with your academic background, you have a good brand - IIT in your CV which is an added perk since all the top B-schools tend to favour applicants who are from the top 10 colleges of each country. Furthermore, while your GPA of 7.3 is a bit on the lower end considering your target schools, your GMAT score of 720 is pretty competitive and proves your academic prowess, thus allowing you to target any and every top B-school. Having said that, your GMAT holds only 20% of value in your chances of getting accepted, so there is no point in retaking your exam and slipping the chance of applying early to the program since there would be comparatively less applications which automatically means less competition for you. Thus, in my opinion, it is best to leverage the first mover advantage and apply in Round 2 itself.

Moving on to your work experience, you have close to 4 years of work experience, which is decent enough for an MBA program since it is designed for managerial professionals.
Though the extent of the period of your work experience is good, you still lack big brand names under your belt. However, eventually, what will matter is the quality of your work experience, whereby you can highlight why you chose this company, what kind of projects you undertook, what were your inputs and what skills you developed. This will also showcase how you are voyaging on a path towards your goal while portraying your dedication and consistency.

Now coming to your extracurricular participation, you have a good set of extracurricular activities under your belt. Most importantly, you have opened your own open source organization which showcases your entrepreneurial capabilities and also vouches for your leadership skills and potential as a good fit for the top B-schools. Moreover, you have been involved in many community works which showcases the socially responsible aspect of your personality, a trait defining great leaders. Additionally, I would like to suggest you take up a few certification courses to enhance your skills and proactive attitude.

Speaking of the schools that you are targeting both Sloan and Haas fall under the dream category whereby your chances of acceptance would be anywhere between 40-50%. That said, you need to back up your profile with a very strong application since you will be competing against applicants who have way more work experience than you and who have similarly great profiles.

Here, your application would play a huge role in enhancing your chances of getting accepted into your target schools as it would highlight your profile USP’s and overshadow any particular weaknesses in your profile. Additionally, you need to ensure that your LORs and Resume, equally depict the strengths of your profile.

Hello,
I'm aiming for the top 20 European b schools and I've a score of 720 in the Gmat exam. I've done my 10th with 64.4 percent. 12th with 64.6 percentage and undergrad with 48.6 percentage in commerce and did by masters in commerce with 57 percent. I had been into sports that's mainly cricket at school level and I've a teaching experience of 6 years at school level other than that I've learned German language (B2 level). Did other courses from mbamaths of statistics and economics as well to demonstrate my maths skill further and I've been posting blogs on economy and business for sometime now. My concerns are my age and my undergrad marks which is on the lower side when there's a vast variety of other Indian applicants who have much higher than that. I need a piece of advice that am I gonna be someone who would stand a chance in top 20 bschools from Europe? I'd really appreciate a reply back. Thanks in advance.
