Hi everyone!

First time poster on GMATclub. I am also a candidate for the January 2020 intake at Insead, and applied R2.

My AO is also Anne Nigl. I read that loneo already received an invite from her (congrats btw!); does it mean that I should have also received the invite yesterday? what is the exact relationship between AO and invites?

Best of luck to everyone!

Hi MBAcand2020

No, I believe they have a rolling application system, that’s why I asked the date loneo applied.

Congratulations to those who got the invite. You are almost there. One last stage to showcase strengths and that’s it.

I am also hopeful to get an invite.

I got an email saying my GMAT is too low and wrote "We strongly encourage you to reapply when you have increased the results of your GMAT Verbal and Quantitative sections."

Does anybody know if I can reapply for the 3rd Round already?

Hi mottagmat,

I am sorry you didn't get the invite. But you should take INSEAD's message positively. If they hadn't seen potential in your profile, you wouldn't have been encouraged to reapply.

Typically, in these cases, you are expected to reapply for a later intake. However, I recommend you to reach out to your AO and check whether it would be possible to reapply for Round 3. You could also try requesting a phone call with an admissions manager.

Deadline for Round 3 is not that far away though. Do you think you can increase your score in a relatively short period of time? If you don't mind me asking, what is your current GMAT score and its Q/V/IR split? Feel free to PM me if it's more convenient for you.

Thank you very much.

Warm regards
Alex

hang in there mate! Like Alex said, INSEAD definitely sees potential in you. If you can improve your GMAT, you will be fine.

For those who are on the waitlist, I got the suggestion from previous alumni that going for a campus visit in Fonty and asking an alumnus to write you a third recommendation letter will greatly increase your chance of getting admitted! Hope this helps! Good luck :)

Hi y467wang,

Thank you very much for sharing! I am heartened to see your eagerness to help your fellow 20D applicants. :)

Just a few points to highlight for this: While a campus visit is good to have in order to show continued interest, it is not a crucial factor. This is to ensure fairness to candidates who might not have the opportunity or financial capability to visit the campuses before the term starts. Hence, do not feel pressured to take a 10+ hour flight to Fonty/Singy if you have been waitlisted! Sending update emails showing substantial career progression and personal growth is much more impactful and rest assured that you won't be penalised for your inability to visit the INSEAD campuses after being waitlisted.

Having gone through the waitlist process myself, I would also like to point out that many of us (who were eventually admitted) did not send in a third recommendation letter. In the event that you decide to request one from an alumni member, please ensure that it is substantial and has value-add to both your original application and your first two recommendation letters. A general recommendation letter from an alumni member whom you met on LinkedIn two weeks ago is definitely not going to be helpful and might even be detrimental to your admission chances.

Here is a useful article on the topic: Waitlist Tips. Hope this helps!
