Hi all,
I graduated with BBA in finance and accountancy with a cgpa of 8.22 from a non-target College in India

Worked at a Big4 for 1.5 years and also interned at a VC firm

Yet to take the GRE/GMAT

Hello JBP01,

To assess your chances holistically, the GMAT/GRE score will be needed. A score upwards of 675 on the GMAT will give you a good chance at many top programs; of course, your career goals will need to be in sync and the application essays should convey your strengths aptly.

Hi Everyone! Looking for a profile evaluation please. Thanks in advance:

Background/Nationality: Pakistan, Age 27, Female

Education: Undergrad - BSc Accounting & Finance, GPA:3.3/4, Lahore University of Management Sciences (one of the top schools in my country)

Plus, I am a CFA Charter holder as of last year.

Extracurriculars: Played Football (Soccer) through out youth levels and at university. Vice Captain of University Team.

GMAT: Not given yet. What would be a good target score considering the schools/programs I am aiming for?

Work Experience:

Big 4 Audit - Internship during undergrad
Pakistan Credit Rating Agency (PACRA) - started as a Credit Analyst, then promoted to Research Analyst (2 years)
Solon Capital - Private Equity Analyst (2 years) Solon is a PE Firm with portfolio based in West Africa that focuses mostly on impact investing in areas of education and climate.

Context: I am aiming for a MFin program in Canada (Schulich, Mcgill, Beedie, Smith etc). and hoping to continue a career in finance (investment banking, private equity etc)

I would appreciate if anyone could answer the following:

1) Is MFin the right path considering my profile and that I want to remain in Finance post Masters? Or should I be considering an MBA? Are there other MFin programs in Canada that might be a better fit?
2) Do I stand a chance in getting accepted to my target programs?
3) What would be good GMAT score for my target programs considering my overall profile?

Here is a point-wise response.

-Considering you have ~4 years of work experience, an MBA may be a better option.
-Tough to comment on this in the absence of a GMAT score.
-Broadly speaking, anything in excess of 665 will be a good target.

Hi all, currently working in LDN but targeting only top of the line MiF programmes to help me move to a better firm as I lack name brands on my cv.
This is my profile:

23 yo Colombian from a UK-Semi Target did Business and Finance and scored a 67% overall so a 2:1, I'm also a CFA L2 candidate

Scored 310 on the GRE with no practice, confident I can get a 330 if I study hardcore everyday for the next month and a half as I tend to do well on these types of tests

Work ex: 6 month internship in vc/pe in london but a no name firm, 3 month internship in infra PE in ldn again a no name firm but this gives me about 9-10 months of work exp after graduating although as an intern which I think could hurt me. Before graduating I did a 3 month internship in IB at a boutique in the US, and an internship in colombia doing vaudit at a large bank in the area

I also contribute to a charity back home every summer

Goal after MiF is to work in IB 2-3 years then go into the buyside

I'm already getting decent traction from recruiters and rejected a masters offer from a semi target I applied to as a plan B earlier this year. I feel more confident about my profiel 1-year afetr graduation and for this reason I am aiming very high as if its not a stelar program I don't think its worth it for me to bear the cost. Having said that I want to apply to: LBS MFA, LSE MIF, OXFORD MFE, HEC MIM, INSEAD MIM, ST Gallen MBF, Imperial MiF.

Dream would be LBS MFA; CFA Level 1 is a substitute for the GRE/GMAT so hopefully my international background and cfa + soon to be strong gre score give me a good chance.

Could you please evaluate my profile for MFin or MSF programs in the United States? I'm planning to apply starting R1 for the Fall 2026 intake.

Profile:
- I'm a 23-year-old Mongolian male. Not very sporty, rather geeky.
- I was interested in Economics in high school, then became more interested in finance in university.
- Can speak Mongolian, English, and super basic Japanese.

Education:
- Graduated from a less-known Japanese University this March.
- Majored in Innovation Studies (i.e. Liberal Arts), with seminar classes in Finance. All courses were in English.
- 3.97 GPA converted to US.
- Wrote my thesis on sustainable finance in Mongolia, was more of a literature review.

Standardized Tests:
- Just took the GMAT and got a 745.
- Planning to take the TOEFL or IELTS soon. Got 110 on TOEFL before when applying to undergrad, but probably out of practice now.

Work Experience:
- Did an 8-month internship at the finance department of an international manufacturing company in Japan.
- No full-time or relevant part-time job experience.

Extracurriculars & Certifications:
- Was a member of international student organizations in my university, and helped organize events.
- Won a simulated trading competition in my seminar class by putting everything in crypto. (Needed volatility to get 1st place, personally not into crypto)
- Volunteered at an startup and entrepreneurship event.

Target Programs:
NYU, Vanderbilt, Notre Dame, MIT, Berkeley MFE, etc.
- Scholarship is important, as I can't repay tuition loans if I can't find a job in the US after graduation, which is uncertain with current job market and administration.

Thanks for sharing your story. You’ve got a lot to be proud of already. A 3.97 GPA from a Japanese university, especially in a second language and unfamiliar culture, shows real determination. Even though your major was broader, the finance-focused seminars and your thesis on sustainable finance in Mongolia show that your interest in this field is genuine and growing. And that 745 GMAT? Incredible. It shows you’re more than ready for the academic side of a master’s in finance. Once you retake TOEFL or IELTS, try to aim for something close to your previous 110. It will help round out your application nicely.

What’s likely on your mind, and rightly so, is your limited work experience. An 8-month internship is a good starting point, especially in a formal corporate setting. But since you haven’t had a full-time role yet, your essays will matter a lot. Use them to help admissions officers understand your journey. Talk honestly about how your interests shifted from economics to finance, and why this degree is the right next step. Show them that you’re thoughtful, motivated, and already building the skills you’ll need.

Helping organize events, volunteering, and even competing (and winning) in a trading simulation all reflect initiative and curiosity. Hi,

You have stellar grades with a 3.97 GPA and 745 GMAT Score. Even though you have majored in Innovation Studies, you have taken seminar classes in Finance and have a thesis in sustainable finance. While your 8-month internship in the finance department of an international manufacturing company in Japan shows demonstrated interest, you would need at least 1-2 more internships to secure a place in top universities. If you are targeting the Fall'26 cycle, I highly recommend starting an internship in Finance at the earliest. Also, please note that the programs at NYU, MIT, and Berkeley are more Quant Fin/Financial Engineering focused, and you would need a more technical role, like a quant researcher or, quant analyst for them, along with a technical undergrad.

Hello everyone!

I am planning to apply for an MSc in Finance at top business schools in the UK, preferably Cambridge, LSE, LBS, Manchester.

Education: I am from Bangladesh and have completed my bachelor's degree in Finance and Banking with a CGPA of 3.93 out of 4.00. It is not a quant-heavy course, but I had courses on statistics, business mathematics, financial derivatives, valuation, etc. I haven't taken the GRE yet, but my expected score is 160 in quant. Besides my bachelor's, I have also completed my ACCA examinations.

Work experience: I have been working at KPMG Bangladesh in the corporate finance division for almost 1.5 years +. Also, I have a startup in fintech, to introduce BNPL and an online credit scoring system in Bangladesh for the first time. I have been working on this for a year.

Extra Curricular: I have achieved 3rd position in the CFA Research Challenge in the local round.

I would be grateful for experienced ones out here to evaluate my chances at the business schools in the UK. My CV is attached.

Great candidature.
Adding to what has already been said here, I will strongly suggest you to apply to a wider net of Universities. The higher number of admits allows you to negotiate scholarships to very high levels. Given my clients this year have reported a 250% success rate (On an avg, my clients have each had 2.5 admits), with every single client havving secured an admit from Top 15 schools WITH substantial Scholarships. Case in point: A Client was able to get 120K scholarship (from 0 scholarship) from her dream program because of her multiple admits each with scholarship.

Secondly, your ECs are not only about your being sporty. You can be Geeky, and still show great Initiative and leadership. The need is to get the right mentorship and guidance, so you can present your application in a manner that the schools fight for you...

Excellent academics & WE for all these schools.

Primarily it seems that you would have a great story to write about for your passion as well. My biggest worry for LBS, top of the lot AND the with most practical curriculum of those you have listed, remains that they would prefer a GRE Q score of 160+. In terms of the average GMAT score for the LBS MSc in Finance program typically falls around 700. While there's no fixed minimum, scores below 600 are generally discouraged, and the school prefers a score of 160+ in each section of the GRE, according to LBS.

Hi,

You have a great GPA, and your work experience in corporate finance, as well as your involvement in a fintech startup, adds significant weight to your profile. Please take the GRE since you might need 2 attempts to achieve the required score, as most MFin programs would like to see a quant score of 165+. Also, universities like Cambridge and LBS offer two types of MSc Finance programs - one for recent grads and the other for graduates with more than 2 years of work experience. So make sure you check the class profile to ensure you apply for the right program!

Hey everyone,

I’m from Türkiye, graduating in June 2026 with a Bachelor in Business Administration. Planning to apply for Finance-focused master’s programs (MSc Finance / MiF) for 2028 intake, preferably Top EU or US schools (think LBS, HEC, ESSEC, ESCP, Bocconi, SSE, CBS, maybe US equivalents).

Career Goal: Start as an auditor at Turkey’s top bank, gain ~2 years of experience, then pivot to finance/consulting roles in EU/US, and eventually move into senior leadership / strategy.

Profile snapshot:

Academics: BBA, current GPA 3.70/4, expected 3.76/4 by graduation. Top student in my department both entrance and GPA rankings.

Entrepreneurship: Founded an e-commerce business in first year; generated $4,000 revenue.

Internships:
• Business Development Intern at a local software company
• Banking Internship at Turkey’s #1 bank

Leadership: While I’ve consistently led in every environment, I don’t have formal leadership titles in clubs (thinking of building something impactful in my last year).

1. LBS does NOT normally consider applicants with fewer than two years' relevant work experience. Avg is 6 years
2. LSE – MSc Finance requires at least a UK 2:1 / ~70%+ and strong quantitative skills; most admits have first-class-level academics. BBA 8.5/10 is fine, but LSE is heavily quant-screened; GMAT Focus 675 is borderline unless quant is further evidenced

Your test scores look strong for these, though your academics (unless 7.4/10 was in the top percentiles) could be a downer. Some degree may be offset by the Merit scholarships, and how you narrate your story
Internships look valuable and will work well; once again however, it will depend largely on your specific, measurables accomplishments there
Extra-Curriculars are good.
Your current experience in Family business does not tie-in at all with your Career Goals. This part may affect your chances adversely (unless you are able to link them well)

Hello,
I'm a final-year B.Com (Honours) student from Nirma University in India, planning to apply for Master's programs starting Fall 2027. My primary target is an MS in Finance at Ivy League schools (e.g., UPenn, INSEAD, LBS, HEC, EDHEC) or top Tier 1 non-US universities (e.g., LBS, INSEAD). I'd consider a Masters in Management (MiM) if it's at an Ivy or a top 10-20 global program like HEC Paris or Bocconi. I'm aiming for programs that emphasize corporate finance, and data analysis, given my background.
I'm preparing for the GMAT Focus and have been scoring in the mid-600s on mocks (around 645-665). I'm worried this might not be competitive enough for my targets, especially Ivies where averages seem to hover around 700+. I plan to take the official test soon and am working on improving quant/DI sections. Any advice on retakes, study strategies, or whether to consider GRE instead would be appreciated.
