“Dissociative identity disorder,” or multiple personality disorder, is a rare psychological disorder in which an individual exhibits entirely different personalities and behaviors. Although the exact psychological mechanism that creates multiple personalities is not known, psychiatrists have agreed that a severe emotional trauma must occur prior to age seven, the age at which a child’s mind matures into a unified identity. In addition to this trauma, certain familial elements must be present. First, the parents of the child must be in conflict, essentially playing opposing, warring roles in the child’s life. Typically, this is manifested by one parent abusing the child and the other parent denying or ignoring the abuse. Second, if siblings are present, they must be treated differently (and generally better) by the parents than the dissociated child. This difference in treatment is critical since it shows the dissociated child that he or she is “different” and undeserving of love and other emotional valuation. If all children in a family are treated in a similar fashion, then multiple personality disorder will not tend to occur. The above elements, while necessary for the rise of multiple personalities, do not guarantee that a child will develop multiple personalities.

* Note - I usually do not like to post my timings, but am doing so in this RC to help a friend who contacted me regarding RCs. The idea is to get the point across that reading the passage slowly but comprehending it in the first go is a far superior approach than skimming. (Also I am not even sure if my answers are correct, so this may massively backfire, 
haha. Fingers crossed! )

A - Siblings are not necessary. Pay attention to the word if in " If siblings are present". This means that if siblings are present then the parent has to behave in a certain way. That does not necessarily mean that siblings are a necessary condition (unlike trauma which the author mentions is a MUST).
B - Well no. Trauma will not guarantee Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). Why? Because if we look at the last line of the passage it clearly gives the explanation - "The above elements, while necessary for the rise of multiple personalities, do not guarantee that a child will develop multiple personalities."
C - The passage tells us the necessary conditions for a child to develop DID. But does the passage tell us how it develop? Also in the passage the author says it is not really known. Passage states - "Although the exact psychological mechanism that creates multiple personalities is not known"

A - Immediately my eyes zoom in on - 2 abusing parents. Best case is 1 abusing parent. So this is a weak choice. Eliminate.
B - Again this one, 9 years old. I mean ideally you need a traumatic experience before 7. Out.
C - Ok, less than 7 years old - check. traumatic experience - check. We get 2 necessary conditions. We keep hold of this choice for the moment.
