I would go with D because the rest of the option seems irrelevant. The person is assuming that someone is waiting for her to be in a vulnerable state to share bad news. The assumption is related to the timing of her receiving bad news. Hence there is a connection between her vulnerable state and her receiving more bad news.

She fails to question whether her response to the news is the issue not the news itself. That's the flaw.
