I had to leave my job due to some medical conditions, and choose to not work and instead study for GMAT, been doing online courses and will start volunteering soon, will that be a negative ?

Courses etc might help in case they’re linked to your goals. But in any case, keep the gap to the extent of your medical condition as part of the application. Also, start volunteering if you truly want to good give back to the community, not just for the application.
