Indians who are unable to exceed a 740 should give the gre

it is a much easier exam and gre average is much lower

based on my experience last year better not to take GRE give GMAT itself

i was in the same impression and due time constraint i gave GRE but most of the us colleges they dont prefer so i took my gmat and applying again

if we are from US then we can go ahead for GRE but indians i dont think they prefer it until and unless its a different background other than the tag male it enginee

Colleges they generally mention that there is same preference for GRE and GMAT right? Is it not the case ??

yeah that holds good for US students and Indian students (different backgrounds like an entrepreneur, Healthcare, finance) but if Indian IT engineer that should not be the preference for them :)

its just based on the trend last year and my experience

IMHO, I don’t think there is much preference between these two for schools, as long as %iles are higher.
