I think graphical method is the easiest here.

but, for that we should know how graph behaves within itself and compared to others for common functions for ranges x<-1, -1<x<0, 0<x<1, x>1.

1/x,x^2,x^3,squareroot(x), cuberoot(x),kx, -kx.

This has made it so much easier for me rather than picking random numbers and trying out.­

Odd powered ones like 1/x,x63 etc are even symmetric.
