Had a small doubt : Is it fine to reach out to a former manager (My manager has left the organisation, I am still a part of the same org) for an LOR. He does not have an official email ID of the company, does a normal gmail ID/ official email ID of some other org work?

Unofficial email is not preferable and the application asks for a justification if you are doing so.

Hi kopite254, Except under-graduation credentials (marks and college), nothing really to worry about. You have good spread of work experience, infact that is useful to move into more of a leadership role wherein an exposure of various domain and functions is expected. So, apply confidently. Your CSR work ex and post MBA goals are well aligned and you have ongoing consulting experience. Maybe a 655 would have helped better, but overall, you should get a shortlist. Best Wishes.

Hi RoyVarn, Official email ID will be better even if recommender has changed organization.

Vivekgai, ISB has a large number of applicants, and while shortlisting, they focus on objective criteria. Given 13 years of work ex and a GMAT of 615, they do not dig deeper. Unfortunately, it’s their loss.

So if ISB is the main target, get a 635-645 to get shortlisted, beyond that it should not be an issue to get through the interview.

It will also be useful to look beyond ISB into IIMA, B, and C. Especially A has a good mix of high work ex students with backgrounds similar to yours.

We don’t find ourselves worthy to evaluate the profile of someone with a gallantry award from the president. Just enhance your score by 20 points AND/OR apply to more colleges. Placement will be similar in all these colleges.

That's unfortunate honestly. I know of people with profiles much less stellar than yours, who did get an interview invite at 615 last year.

Please see if you can target 635 or above.

Good luck!

p.s. Hope you are applying to other schools as well. Can't put all the proverbial eggs in ISB's basket :?

Considering your work-experience, it looks like your post MBA goals need to be thought-thru a bit.

Also, see if you can push your current GMAT score of 645 by 20+ points.

Good luck!

Hi team, wanted to check- how much time does the reviewer have to fill the LOR questionnaire? Is it only until the end of application deadline or do they get some time beyond that if my application is filled towards the end of deadline
You do not need the entire application to be filled and submitted, in order to initiate the process for LoR.

LoR process can go in parallel with the filling up of the application.

Need an advice
I'm thinking of taking GMAT on Nov 16th
Giving me 3 weeks before ISB R2 end date
So provided I score good, is 3 weeks fine to finish the application?

And how much does it cost to reschedule the GMAT?

3 weeks will be tight. It can be done but would require you to turn around drafts rather quickly if you're working with a consultant or any other senior friend/alum. Not ideal but doable.
Better to start your application earlier to ensure you're not at scratch come 16th Nov. There's enough time right now to focus on both.
So you are suggesting I start with application side by side and not wait to finish GMAT exam?

Thanks for your service.

A 615 isn’t very low considering the rest of your profile, so the application/ narrative could’ve been stronger last time. Having said that, improving the score would improve your odds. Aiming for a 645+ would be ideal.
