The shortlisting that you’ll receive on 5th will already have the interview date on it and will also ask you to submit the essays.
I am sure they are read and form a part of your interview. Not sure, if they are part of final decision though.

Once shortlist is declared along with essay which have to be submitted, what else do we have to be ready with before the interview, just the essays or more additional stuff?

I was interviewed in R1 this year and these were the topics that I had prepared for at that time.
