Got a rejection today as well. IIT B Grad with 3.5 years of front end management consulting experience at Japan's largest MC firm. GRE 331 with a full in quant. Had worked with a consultant who is also shocked. Got dinged by LBS as well. Really demoralizing as I have my Kellogg interview tomorrow and thinking whats the point of even sitting for it. Sadly, also have my Oxford R1 result tomorrow so now really scared for that as well

First off, sorry to hear about what you’re going through with the rejections. Rejections, especially when you feel you’ve done everything right, are brutal. But you aren’t alone in this experience, and this moment doesn’t define your journey. IIT B, 3.5 years in consulting at a top firm in Japan, GRE 331 with full quant strength. That’s no small feat
.
Getting dinged doesn’t mean you aren’t competitive. It usually means there were dozens of candidates just as strong, and Adcoms made tough prioritization decisions. Just in case, if this cycle doesn’t go your way, the learning you gain can be used to refine your narrative, sharpen your positioning, and bounce back later.
Schools care about you fitting in with their environment, network, and mission. If your goals or values don’t resonate with what the school offers, they might consider you a less ideal admit. Sometimes the Adcom may choose someone for class composition, timing, or minor differentiators. Anyways, congrats on the Kellogg Interview Invite. Prepare well, show your personality, and clarity of purpose. All the best!
