At NorthBridge Fulfillment Center, a standard workday is 8 hours and a standard workweek is 5 workdays. A shift supervisor observed that a clerk can scan and log incoming packages at a rate of 1 package every 50 seconds. The supervisor wants to restate this rate using the warehouse’s standard units.

Rate is 1 package every 50 seconds.
Number of packages in 1 hour = 60*60/50= 72 packages

In 1 workday (i.e. 8 hours), number of packages = 8*72= 576 packages per day

In 1 workweek (5 days) number of packages = 576*5= 2880 packages per workweek

Using unitary method =
1 package in 50 seconds
x packages in 8*60*60 seconds (= 8 hours)
this gives us x = 8*60*60/50
x = 576 packages in a day
hence pkg/day = 576
pkg/week = 576*5 = 2880

Seconds per workday : 8 hours x 3600 sec /hr= 28800 seconds

Packages per day = 28800/50 = 576

Workweek Calculation (5 workdays)

Packages per week : 576 x 5 = 2880

8 hours/workday * 3600 seconds/hour = 28800 seconds/workday

(28800 seconds/workday) / (50 seconds/package) = 576 packages/workday

pkg/day=576

Given - Work day = 8 hours & Work week = 5 Work Day = 40 hours & 1pckg/50 sec
to find:
50 sec -> 1 pckg => (1 hour) 3600 sec -> 3600/50 = 72 pckg
1 W.D (8 hours ) -> 8*72 = 576 pckg/day
1 W.W (40 hours) -> 5*576 = 2880 pckg/week

Per day: 1/50*8*60*60=576 ( per second rate * second in 8 hours i.e. 8*60*60)
per week rate: 576*5= 2880 (per day rate * number of working day)

We know that,
There are 5 workdays in a workweek and in those workdays 8 hours of work is done.
While working, a clerk can pack 1 package every 50 seconds

We need to know packages packed per day and per week

=> Packages packed per hour = (60*60) / 50 = 72
=>Packages packed per day = 72* 8 = 576
=> Packages packed per week = 576 * 5 = 2880

As we see in the table, we have the options also which match with this
pkg/day = 576
pkg/week = 2880

1 hour 3600 seconds

In 1 hour 3600/50 = 72 packages

In 8 hours 72*8 = 576

In 5 days 576*5 = 2880

pkg/day=576 and pkg/week=2880

So NBFC has
8 hrs shift for a day and 5 days a week

Now 1 employee does 1 package in 50 seconds.

So in a day of 8 hr shift there is total 8 * 60 * 60 seconds now divide by 50
it will give 576 pkg/day.

Now for week we know 5 days in a week so per day we know 576 pkg hence for 5 day
2880 pkg/week.

Hence above is the answer

Test each option:

Ship Alpha = 400/speed A
Ship Beta = 400/speed B

For speed A= 32 km/h
Ship Alpha = 12.5 hr

Ship beta will take 12.5 - 2.5 hr = 10 => 400/10 = 40 km/h

So, Speed A = 32 and Speed B = 40
