I'm guessing the time between notifications is going to increase from Aug/mid Sept because the majority of ED applicants probably apply late Sept/Oct. At least that is what I'm telling myself, cause I interviewed on Oct 22 and haven't heard anything!

I hope it doesn't go up, I'm interviewing on Tuesday, and I've got my fingers crossed for a quick turnaround. Besides, you're status only went complete on 10/26, so it'd only been 3 days :-D

Very true, its just that cause I interviewed with adcom I thought it would be an almost instant decision turnaround (I was given choice between adcom and alumn, chose adcom). I guess that isn't the case though! Maybe those of us waiting will hear something Monday.

Can anyone please tell me if the adcoms give importance to Alumni Recommendation?
Is there any sort of application fee waiver?

It all depends on how well the alum knows you and can talk about your qualities, strengths, leadership and business acumen. A letter of support from a friend or co-worker alum or current MBA student (beyond the required 2 recommendations) would add a little support, but I'm not sure it won't turn you from a ding to an admit.

I was told in simple terms, if you have worked with an alum (supervisor/manager) by all means get his or her recommendation. If you are simply title or legacy shopping, don't bother. They're looking for content and concrete examples.

On the flip side, if you can get a letter from Warren Buffett or Henry Kravis - don't pass on it :P

Hope this helps!

Just got an email from CBS admissions with the subject line showing "My Name - Invitation to..." and then I excitedly opened it only to read "Invitation to Attend Columbia Business School Information Session in Vancouver". Arrrrrrrrgh.

Thanks CBS, thanks.

Hey,
I am also a Toronto applicant.
I was wondering if you have received an invite to interview or if you have already interview locally? There doesn't seem to be many interviewers we can choose from. Wanted to see how your experience went?

Thanks. Good luck!

Just a general message for everyone, does it really matter if I interview locally or on campus? Should I interview with someone that has recently graduated or interview with alum who graduated say 6-10 years ago?

Thanks!!

Don't think it matters. But, I think going onsite for the interview (if you haven't been onsite already), may help with your interview in that it would help solidify why you'd want to attend.

Regarding the second question, I don't think that matters either. Maybe you can expect the younger alum to submit a response sooner than one who graduated years before since they may be more enthusiastic about the process.

Hope that helps

Does anyone know how long it takes Columbia to get back to you once you have submitted additional information? Columbia sent me a message on Friday October 22 saying that one of my recs was not in. It was submitted later that day but I have not heard back from them and my application status is "incomplete".

It took a week for me to see the update "officially". But I would imagine at least 2-3 days

Flying across the country to ask about your waitlist status? You deserve an acceptance!

I was hoping for a call today...nothin! Looks like 5-6 of us are waiting on a decision after 'interview complete' status. I noticed from the spreadsheet all admit calls happened either Mon, Weds, or Fri. I know its a small sampling, not sure if there is anything to that. Hopefully next week....

I've actually have yet to step into the adcom office or attend an oncampus admissions session (though I've dropped in on some classes and talked with current students when I happened to be in NYC).

With yield status unknown (~70% they say for non j-term), I thought it would be best to do all i can to get the extra nudge off of waitlist to admit. I actually have quite a few questions to ask, and since the j-term is cutting it very close, i have concerns about living situation, loans, background check, etc.

wish me luck
