My best guess is that notifications will correlate with applicant strength and date the interview was completed...

Anyone care to speculate about who they call first? Judging from last year, it's not alphabetical by gmat club user name...

Alphabetical? Regional? Legacies? Random?

What I love is the statement on their site that "applications will not necessarily be reviewed in the order received..."

So my guess is they will call based on the random stack on their desk, which is in turn based on random allotment.

If that answer doesn't give you what you want, I think they will call people based on a function of your Erdos number, the second digit of your mother's maiden name, and whether or not you like Cheese. +50 points for people who like cheese.

I call BS on the decisions going out until we get some proof. Who did you speak to on the phone? Why is there no official notification on the blog?

Ha! Reminds me of the fiasco from 2 years ago when everyone was freaking out whether or not Kellogg was sending out decisions.

calling-all-kellogg-fall-2009-applicants-67009-620.html#p546337

This happens every year. No need to get upset.

I take full credit for kicking off the 2009 fiasco with my post on that other MBA forum.

Guys I know it's hard advice to listen to, but really try not to spend too much time thinking about whether or not Kellogg has started sending decisions or you'll just drive yourself mad. Your application is somewhere in the pile and you'll get your decision when it's time comes, regardless of when anyone else hears decisions. In past years when decisions were released over the course of 6-8 weeks or so, people still got admit decisions late in the afternoon on the last day of the round. Not being one of the first people to hear is not any indication on the strength of your application. Unless you're dinged, you still have the same shot at getting an admit.

Yes, more speculation! I can feel the gmatclub internets teeming with anxiety... it is on the brink of a mass forum freakout! :)

Maybe the calls are in batches based on strength of application?

Seriously though, why hasn't anyone heard yet today! I was feeling so sure that we were going to get some acceptance call action on the forum today (even though this was entirely based on past trends and speculation from others).

Let's just wait. How about that.

I bet there are so many people (including lurkers) who get excited when a new message pops up, but only to find that it is from a panicking/speculating soul, whose speculation is well... speculation.

Does finding out someone received a decision impact my decision? no
Is there anything I/we can do at this point? no

Let's bring some sanity. I know it's hard.

Of course you're right. Plus, if we don't hear anything in the next hour, it's probably about time to give up for the day anyway.

It looks like we are all a bit anxious. The status page is crashing upon login for me. I'm guessing everyone is logging in to check. Maybe they are pushing out a new update, but no need to post more rumors :)

I'm in for R1 BTW - 3.5 years experience / 3.6 GPA / 700 / eCommerce Consulting

Just talked to AdComms, and they stated that no decisions have been released yet. Some will start trickling out end of this week and more next week...

good luck all.

None of us can resist.

We've now heard five definitive, and entirely conflicting, statements today as to when Admissions will start issuing decisions. I do, however, have to vote with Patagonia on this one because [his? her?] comment reeks of truth.

New to this forum...and looks like will be a regular from now on!

Do AdCom actually call successful applicants?

Their website says that "To ensure confidentiality, decisions are not released over the phone"

Yes - from what I've been reading from past threads - they certainly do! However, if you are out of their time zone, you get a congratulatory email explaining that because of time differences they didn't call but you can contact them anytime. I remember reading about them not calling applicants as well. Not sure why they said that when clearly they do!

I think it means that if any applicant were to call the Admissions office to find out, they would not release any information. It does not apply when it is the Adcom initiating the call.

Hi everyone, I was a semi-regular lurker last year (when my boyfriend was applying) and am a devoted lurker this year. I'm delurking to post an update: yes they've started releasing decisions. I got off my flight to my client site a couple of hours ago (I'm a consultant) to find a VM from AdCom. I'm in.

For those who're trying to figure out in what order the calls are made, I can only offer myself as a data point. I work for MBB in Chicago, I submitted my app way before the R1 deadline, and I interviewed on-campus on November 5. Kellogg is not my top choice.

More importantly (for me at least) is why I'm delurking to post this: I saw how ugly the forums got last year with people "calling BS" on each others' posts and, in general, behaving like jerks to each other. I don't see why we have to do that - there's no verifiable way to believe if anyone is lying or not, and conjecture on each others' motives will only seek to increase our collective stress levels. So - let's try to play nice in the sandbox, this time around. It'll make our nervousness a lot easier to handle.

Okay, off my soapbox. Back to lurking now, unless anyone continues to behave like a BSD on here or has any specific questions of me. :)
