| FROM Tuck Admissions Blog: Update From the CDO: A Strong Recruiting Season Continues |
|
Following a strong 2013, I am pleased to report that 2014 is off to a similarly great start with on-campus recruiting season for first-year students now in full swing. The Career Development Office (CDO) team has been hard at work helping first years prepare for on-campus interviews and catching up with second years who are back on campus and continuing their job searches. This is an extremely busy and fun time for us at the CDO and for the entire community, which pulls together in typical Tuck fashion in support of our students and their career objectives. This level of care and attention from across the institution is one of the things that truly sets Tuck apart from other MBA programs. Here are a few career-related highlights I recently shared with the deans and faculty at Tuck. The news is great, so it was a fun update to give! Strong Wrap-up to 2013 Tuck’s class of 2013 had what I believe is the highest level of employment at graduation of any top MBA program, along with an extremely high level of compensation. The total average compensation for T’13s, including base, signing bonuses, and other compensation came out to $183,000. Consulting is Big Fully 20 percent of the class of 2013 accepted offers from McKinsey, Bain, and Boston Consulting Group, the highest number of graduating students heading to these firms in recent memory. These students will join more than [20] offices in [10] countries around the world. Finance Careers Have Rebounded Thirty percent of Tuck students entered the financial services industry across a breadth of firms in investment banking, investment management, private equity, and insurance. We anticipate a comparable level for the 2014 class. More than 130 companies will recruit on campus at Tuck this year, an increase of nearly 10 percent over last year. Today marks the kickoff of our four-week, on-campus recruiting season for summer internships with leading MBA hiring firms visiting Tuck. Back to mock interviews! |

| FROM Tuck Admissions Blog: Snow Falling on Sachem |
![]() We got quite a bit of snow in December and early January. As someone who very much prefers warmer weather, I both felt a little apprehensive about the snow but must admit I also love how it transforms the landscape and makes everything look so beautiful. There really is something magical about it. We spent our snow days tucked inside, watching the snow fall while wearing our PJs and sipping hot chocolate. Almost as soon as the snow stopped, you could see all the kiddoes decked in head-to-toe snowgear head outdoors to enjoy the fresh snowfall, building snowpeople or being pulled along in a sled by their parents. This year both of our boys seem to be old enough to really enjoy frolicking in the snow. One of their favorite acitivies is to walk *through* the snow, letting their feet sink in as high as their knees sometimes, rather than walk on the plowed path. They also love pushing snow around with their shovels. My husband Zach (T'14) has taken our 5yo up to Dartmouth Skiway for ski lessons a few times, which has been a great experience for both of them. This is our last New England winter, and we're trying to make the most of it! ![]() ![]()

| FROM Tuck Admissions Blog: January goings-on at Tuck |
![]() Once we had returned to campus after the winter holidays and got back into our routines here in Hanover, it felt like there was just one tiny weekend of downtime, and then the busy pace of Tuck's social scene picked back up, seemingly immediately! Earlier this month, over 200 Tuckies and TPs headed up to Montreal, for some new scenery and friendly competition. The co-ed soccer team, Men's A, B, and All-Star Women's hockey teams all faced off against teams from Concordia University's John Molson School of Business; there were huge fan bases and cheering sections for the Tuck teams! We had some wins and losses, but more importantly, lots of fun! There were Tuck-organized events/bar locales for the evenings, and folks spent their days relaxing, shopping, sightseeing, or spectating games. ![]() ![]() ![]() This past weekend was Tuck's Winter formal (there's a formal each quarter); this one was held about 45minutes away in a ballroom of the Killington Resort, where many Tuckies and TPs visit regularly to ski or snowboard with their heavily discounted all-season ski passes. Some Tuckies spent the entire weekend at Killington, skiing the days and enjoying the formal on Saturday night; others just came out for dinner and the dance (school-sponsored shuttles took groups to and from Hanover). ![]() With some fellow TPs, dear friends! ![]() With my handsome Tuckie! Which brings me to... I can't believe it's almost February, and along with it, one of the best weekends at Tuck: Winter Carnival!!! If you're unfamiliar, it's a weekend filled with ski racing, snow sculptures, and the famous Kneisel Cup; considered by many to be one of the country's premiere MBA events. Each year over 600 skiers and fans from up to 15 of the top business schools in the U.S. to gather at Tuck for a weekend of competition and revelry. I'm still recovering from all of last year's fun... this year is sure to be more of the same!
