Hi guys, I just want to ask whether any of you asks for a recommendation form community service. Or do you think UCLA only favors LOR from working setting? Thanks!

Ok to be clear, my job is kind of my community service as well (I work for an non-profit and volunteer with them as well) so my recos fortunately include both.

Having said that I think that if you think that your community service experience is substantial (i.e you have worked with a non-profit for a while and/or worked on some significant projects) I would say go for a community service reco. But just make sure to explain to your recommender that they need to highlight your personal and professional attributes.

I don't think any school has any problem with recos from community service as long as they actually add value to your application since it highlights yet another aspect of who you are. It is for you to judge how much value is added to your app by the reco. For eg if you have done a not-so-significant project but your recommender waxes eloquent it may not reflect well since the adcoms can usually see through that when they compare it to your resume.

Just my $.02

Thanks for your two cents, Kidchaos. Finally I also got one LOR from my community service supervisor. Hope it's ok.

Anytime!

Btw I am quite surprised at the lack of movement in the R1 applicants. I mean R2 has already gone in but we are hearing nothing back. In fact my status still says "Your MBA application is being reviewed by our admissions committee and we will contact you if we have any questions." I really don't know what to make of it.

I am quite convinced that I am officially dinged by Anderson. Its my first application and I know I could have done it better. Anyways....

Has everyone who received an interview invite in the last week (the post-Christmas "second" wave) conducted their interviews?

I completed mine (off-campus, local alumni), this past Saturday.

I'm just curious and trying to get an idea, hoping that they'll release decisions a bit early.

I got the invitation on 01/06.
Finally got my interview scheduled for 01/19. (Too late?)
But, the silver lining is that I only have to wait for 6 days before the decision comes :-D

From last year's thread, all R1 ding-without-interview decisions were sent in mid December. I think that would have been the more humane thing to do this year as well but I think they just had a lot more applications to wade through.

Hi Guys,
Adcom has asked my interviewer to provide a feedback by the 20th.
Its 2 more weeks till the Decision Day and I think there is still a fair chance to get invited as long as your interview feedback can be provided by the end of next week.
Also, last week a bulk of invitations went out on Thursday.

So, I don't see any reason to loose hope yet! Cheer Up~

I applied round 1 Consortium, and haven't heard a word from Anderson, not even confirmation of receipt. Is anyone else in the same boat? Should I be worried at this point?

I just interviewed on 1/13 via Skype. Still not sure by when will the decision be out. The quoted text indicates that 1/25 is the official date. Is that true? I could not find any particular date on the website.
