Hi Jon and thanks for your tips.

For essay #3, should I provide an answer even though I have a good Math score for the GMAT (Q49) and an engineering background?

Perhaps I should demonstrate ways I can improve my core business skills such as finance and accounting?

I was wondering the same thing. Strong Quant background from engineering. I took intro to micro/macro and marketing in undergrad but certainly not the whole realm of business classes. Is it worth explaining?

Definitely worth explaining! I'm considering taking a few MOOCs beginning 2018 so I am in the right frame of mind for bschool. However, writing a 300 word essay on the online courses I am taking is going to produce a dull and boring essay. I'm just thinking of different approaches I can take. How will you approach this one? Are you going to provide essays to all the optional prompts?

I think i'm just going to answer this in one paragraph. Like it states above, they want to make sure you can handle the math of B-school. A solid GMAT and GPA in engineering would indicate that you have no problem with math. Plus, I think I'll discuss that I have taken a few basic business classes and caught on very quickly. Reading up briefly on the subject matter prior to school combined with a strong quant background should give them no worries for success.
