Because of wrong comparison eliminate A,B,C. Between options D and E, option D is more concise

Yeah D looks fine indeed.

E looked promising but that 'with' in unlike with was totally unnecessary

Damn you E

D is our best choice here guys

Cheers!

We want to compare the 'cost of flat-rate plans' with the 'cost of typical mobile phone'. Only D compares the cost.

Only D and E stand a chance comparison wise.

However, in E we have a problem of Subj- verb Agreement.

Unlike with the monthly cost of typical mobile phone contracts, the monthly cost of flat-rate plans are not affected by the frequency of use

SO D is correct.

(A) Unlike typical mobile phone contracts, the frequency of use does not affect the monthly cost of flat-rate plans
wrong comparison between contracts and frequency
(B) Unlike with typical mobile phone contracts, the frequency of use does not affect the monthly cost of flat-rate plans
wrong comparison
(C) Unlike the typical mobile phone contract, the monthly cost of flat-rate plans are not affected by the frequency of use
correct comparison but monthly cost is singular and not plural
(D) Unlike that of typical mobile phone contracts, the monthly cost of flat-rate plans is not affected by the frequency of use
best option
(E) Unlike with the monthly cost of typical mobile phone contracts, the monthly cost of flat-rate plans are not affected by the frequency of use
cost is singular and not plural
