Hello! First time here,
Currently a rising senior hoping to apply to top MBA Programs that admit college seniors. Have no idea what my chances are but below is my profile.
BACKGROUND
Age: 21
Nationality: African American
Sex: Female
Low-Income
ACADEMICS
School: Top 15 Liberal Arts College (i.e. Vassar, Hamilton, Wesleyan)
Education: Anthropology Major, Mathematics Minor
GPA: 2.XX* (extenuating circumstances - documented medical issues throughout college, massive blemish on profile, I know
)
GMAT: 760* (same score from two proctored practice exams administered by college, will be taking official soon and shooting for 750+)
PRE-MBA PROGRAMS
Attended prestigious summer developmental programs at business schools to hone in on analytical skillset.
HBS Summer Venture in Management Program
Stanford GSB Summer Institute for General Management
Chicago Booth Summer Business Scholars
WORK EXPERIENCE
Interning at a top Tech Firm this summer (i.e. Facebook, Twitter) in non-tech, business oriented role.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Student Government Class Representative
3-Year Varsity Lacrosse Athlete (Won't be continuing for a fourth year due to injury)
Significant activism with regards to diversity (race, gender, and socioeconomic status) in higher education. I've held leadership roles in and off campus, participated in conferences, gained national awards, recognition, etc)

Hello,
First, yeah, the GPA, bummer. Everything else is great, assuming you score high on the GMAT as you expect based on practice tests.
To partially address the GPA – I agree about waiting, but even if you apply in R2, although you won’t have your final grades for the semester, if you get great grades in all tests, quizzes, papers, labs, etc., in the applications you can write a short optional essay discussing the GPA circumstances AND state that so far in the semester you have earned A’s in your various courses (and note specifics).
I suggest focusing on the programs, first, that actually target your age/experience level, such as HBS 2+2, the Stanford deferred, Yale SOM Silver Scholars, etc. Then research and select programs that you are certain will consider applications from people such as you without actual experience. I'd consider you qualified for these programs assuming (a) excellent grades upcoming semester, (b) strong GMAT, (c) outstanding application.
By the way, have you considered top Master in Management programs, such as the excellent London Business School? These 1-year programs target applicants who are at exactly your point in education/career. Northwestern’s top-notch Kellogg business school offers a 1-year MS in Management Studies, and Duke and University of Michigan offer similar programs. In Europe, HEC in Paris, among others, offers such a program. I think they might be a good option to consider.

This is my first post too! Also a senior student hopeful of applying to a deferred admissions program.
BACKGROUND :
Gender : Male
Age: 21
Nationality: Indian
ACADEMICS :
Undergraduate Institution: Indian Institute of Technology [from one of the older higher ranked IITs]
Degree: Bachelors in Engineering and a Minor in Humanities
GPA: > 8.5 / 10 [guess that evens out to a 3.4 odd score when converted via WES)
GMAT: 760
WORK EXPERIENCE :
1. A research internship with a research group at the institute. (3 Months)
2. A supply chain internship with a US foods and beverages company (3 Months)
3. A research internship with a fortune 50 company (3 Months)
EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES :
1. Student Governance: Elected by 8000 students. Have been extensively involved with student governance throughout.
2. Community Service: Worked on 5 different projects. Have also engaged teams of freshmen and mentored subsequent project leaders.
TARGET PROGRAMS :
1. Harvard 2+2
2. Stanford GSB (deferred)
3. Yale Silver Scholars
Are there other programs that offer deferred admissions as well? (Thanks in advance!)
I am also quite curious about the joint programs offered by different schools. (Wharton offers an MBA + MS program in association with UPenn, Sloan with MIT, etc. ) How are these programs perceived by the industry and how tough is it to get in?
My primary concerns about my applications are:
1. Have not started up. - Don't know how that would affect the odds.
2. GPA: It is a decent GPA. - Not as high as it could've been. It fluctuates heavily. Should I specify reasons in an optional essay?
3. I'm looking to work with multiple industries and transition either into policy or a strategy role in a technology firm later on.
