Okay so take it with a pinch of salt. You have 3 things going against you.

1 - Indian Male. Being an Indian male has it's disadvantages. Typically, Indian candidates have an average GMAT of around 750. Regardless of your background, you are usually compared to that specific pool. Hence, a GMAT of ~ 730 above is ideal. People have got in with scores below that, but hey, the game of probability sucks.

2 - Your work ex is on the lower side. It's close to 3 years but class averages are 4 and above. I think you will be fine with this by the time you apply for next year's intake. The more work ex you have, the more the spotlight goes away from the GMAT and GPA. So the GMAT is important to cover this too.

3 - Low Quant Score. Q 38 is a really low score and schools usually have a >46 cut off. You don't need a 50 or 51 but try to get to 47-48 to have a respectable score. With a Q 48 and a V 49, you will cross 750.

Finally, note that you have time on your side. You are at an advantage of having a great base for verbal, so that you could put in all your effort into quant. Take some classes, focus on quant and nail the GMAT by March or April and then focus on the rest.

All the Best.

Adutta,

Having consulting experience with ZS is good. Its a brand that is recognized by top b-schools. I have seen students from ZS going to work for top consulting firms post-MBA. Kind of an upgrade in profile :) However, most of the firms like MBB look at your GMAT. 700 is usually the cutoff, so you are fine that way but a higher score would increase your chances.

Your work with US pharma client also positions you well for Gen Mgt. roles with pharma/biotech companies. These companies are not crazy about super high GMAT score but the competition is nonetheless fierce. I can't make it from your profile about your work/visa situation. Some healthcare companies might not be open to international students for the Gen. Mgt roles. Just be aware of that. Being an international myself (US MBA, 2010), I learned it the hard way.

One way to boost your chances of admission would be to look at schools in Top 20-40. With a 710, you might be able to even get a 20-40% scholarship from a few schools.

Hope this helped.

Hi there!

Since you have a bit more time, I'd recommend retaking the GMAT to see if you can cross the 720/730 mark. In addition, I'm not seeing the leadership experiences that differentiate top tier candidates. If you feel you are strong in this regard, you should strive to demonstrate these in your essays. Also, your extracurriculars seem to mainly be throughout your UG career (unless I'm misinterpreting something), so I would recommend finding an activity/initiative to get involved in and making an impact in a leadership role. Hope this information helps. Feel free to get back to us with the answers to the above questions. Also, feel free to check out our free resources to get you started for your upcoming preparation. Best of luck this season!
