Hello,
I just completed my third GMAT, and to my dismay it was only a mere 640.
Although I want to improve, I wanted to apply this year and round 2 is coming up in January.
Should I still apply in case I get in? I'm wondering if I don't get accepted, if that will affect my chances when I reapply the following year.
Target schools are NYU/UCLA.
Advice appreciated.
Thanks,
Tony
Hi Tony, I'm sorry to hear of your disappointment. I do feel that you should delay your application this year and focus on getting the GMAT sorted. i realized you have taken it 3 times - mix up your strategy. Do something different to get a different result. Get a tutor or join an online study group.
Might consider checking out how you fare on the GRE. I believe for those two schools the GRE average is not publicized or factored into rankings; this means that if they want you it might be less of an obstacle. So take a mock exam there and if the quant is high enough, go for it.
The schools want to see that you have grown and in than a year - well might be difficult to demonstrate unless you have some big promotion coming up next year. I would just prioritize the test score for the time being and apply to round 1 next season. If you get the test score situated by the end of the year, maybe apply to round 1 INSEAD for J-term in Feb if that appeals.
