Hello vishaltyagi

For B-schools that accept GMAT (India & Internationally) work ex is usually mandatory.
For Indian schools your 3 year degree is fine, for schools abroad you will need to check the website of the specific school as some allow 3 year degree and some don't.
The good part is that you have started early, which will help you Build Your Profile and use this time to improve your chances of admission at a B-School a few years from now.
You can still switch your branch after an MBA depending on what school you attend and what job you do in these years and what your future goals are.
Let me know if you wish to discuss this further.

Hey,
I am an aspirant for GMAT who is currently pursuing BSc(Hospitality and Hotel Administration) from one of the reputated college of India . I got some queries regarding the same , it would be great if you could help me out with them.
1) Am I eligible? As on next year i'll have only 3years graduation programme degree and i guess most of the B-Schools require 4years.
2) Would it be great option to go for MBA in some different specialization other than the same branch that i have currently i.e.(Tourism, Hospitality , Hotel Management) such as Finance, Operation, Business Analytics etc. because I really want to switch the branch.
Looking forward to hear from you.
Thanks

Hello Varun,
First of all thanks for your prompt reply.
As you said you can switch your branch for MBA but then what is the point of gaining work experience ? like now am pretty much sure that i'll be placed by coming december in some five star hotel or retails outlets like puma or Mcd but gaining experince there and then opting for MBA in business analytics i.e. totally opposite of what i'll be learning in my work exp then it won't considered i guess?

Hello vishaltyagi

There are 2 parts to this answer-

1. Eligibility- Work ex is simply a requirement for admission at ISB and the likes. So you will have to gain work ex.
2. Transferable Skills- A job will help you appreciate an MBA more irrespective of the field you come from or wish to work in. Also, you may work in a different field pre and post MBA, but there are several skills, both soft and hard, that you learn in a job. These skills will get transferred and help you become better at another job. Let us your example of Business Analytics. a Retail Organization such as Puma sells thousands pf pairs of footwear everyday in different sizes to different genders in different locations. What should be the ideal allocation and replenishment plan of footwear to each store? What will help you arrive at the answer? Only the knowledge of retail? No. Only the knowledge of Analytics? No. Both combined? Hell yes! Just one simple example. An MBA will add much more than this.
