Not sure why but your subject says " policy violation in first GMAT attempt" whereas you have mentioned that this was your second attempt
Stepping out of the center is not a minor policy violation ,
I think your score would be revoked and you might be banned from testing for 3 years ..

Hi,
Hope you're doing well and keeping safe. I gave the GMAT exam a second time and scored 730 (Q50 V40). On my first attempt, I faced a minor policy violation - I mistakenly stepped outside the center for a smoke but stopped before I could light one as the test center team called me back. Because of this blunder, I have a 'P' on my GMAT score card. I have a strong academic background (Top 10% of Batch in an IIT) with 3-4 years of experience in reputed firm (MBB). I was hoping to apply to HBS, Wharton and other top schools in the US. I'm worried about the 'P' in my score report and wanted to know the level of impact this P will have on my application given that I come from an overrepresented background (Indian male engineer, consult). Please help me out.

Hmm. Apologies. I think my intial post may have been confusing.
Let me clarify the situation again - I've given two attempts.
On first - my score was revoked and it was treated as a minor violation. As I mentioned, I received a "P" on the score report. There was no testing ban. I had left during the break and didn't leave for more than 45-60 seconds when the proctor called me back. I agree that it was my stupidity but I genuinely didn't know that it's not allowed to leave the room, especially since even the toilets were in a different part of the building all together. After that horrid experience, I came to know of the level of strictness that is enforced in GMAT test centers.
On second - I retook the exam 31 days later and scored 730.
My doubt: Will the "P" hurt my chances while applying to top B-schools abroad ? If yes, to what degree? Do I need to take the GRE now?
