+1 for A
The first part of the sentence is modifying economy.
A is making the best sense here.

A for me.

B. we need "most" as we are comparing "all economies" with Britain's economy"

C. Unnecessary wordy using "stands out for being"

D. Comparing "economy" with "Great Britain"

E. Certainly A is better than E. Here "Great Britain's" is working as an adjective that should modify noun "economy", but in E it seems modifying the verb "is working". This does not makes sense.

A. Great Britain's economy is the most strongly affected by the recession - Correct

B. the economy of Great Britain is the more strongly affected than any of the others by the recession - Comparison requires superlative degree 'most'. Also, ideal usage is 'the most' and not 'the more'

C. Great Britain's economy stands out for being the most affected by the recession - incorrect use of 'being' + wordy

D. Great Britain has the most strongly affected economy by the recession - Incorrect comparison. Economy is compared with Great Britain

E. Great Britain's is the most strongly affected economy - Meaning shift. Misses the 'recession' part.

Answer: A
