If a population of women in a town is 90% of men . What is the population of men as a % of population of women ?

A 108 %

B 105%

C 111%

D 112%

E 114%
I like at EMPOWERgmatRichC 's method better, but algebraically:

W = .9M

W = \(\frac{9}{10}\)M

\(\frac{10}{9}\)W = M

\(\frac{10}{9} = \frac{M}{W}\)

Men as a percentage of women = \(\frac{M}{W}\) x 100 -->

\(\frac{M}{W}= \frac{10}{9}\) = 1.11 x 100 = 111%

Let the population of Men \(= 100\)

Population of Women is \(90\)% of Men \(= 90\)% of \(100 = \frac{90}{100} * 100 = 90\)

Required Percentage \(=\) (Population of Men) \(/\) (Population of Women) \(* 100\)

Required Percentage \(= \frac{100}{90} * 100 = 111.111\)% \(=>Approximately =>\) \(111\)%

Answer (C)...

Let M = 100, W = 90.
100 = x%(90)
x% = 100/90 = ~111%. Ans - C.

W = .9M
.9M + M = 1
1.9M = 1
M = 1/1.9

Assume population =190
M = 1/1.9 * 190 = 100
W = 90

M/W = 100/90 = 111%
