Another way to solve this is putting numbers in place of x,y,z

Try z=8,y=2,x=4
Then, x-y = 2 = z/4(Option A)

Consider 2x=z; then x=Z/2 and similarly Y=Z/4

X-Y =Z/2-Z/4= 2Z-Z/4 =Z/4 - Which is option A

If 2x=4y=z, what is x-y, in terms of z?

A. z/4
B. z/2
C. z
D. 2z
E. 4z

Solve by plugging in some values , a 10 sec approach !!

Let , 2x = 4y = z = 8

So, x = 4 , y = 2 and z = 8

Now, x - y = 4 - 2 =>2

In terms of z it will be \(\frac{8}{4}\)

Hence correct answer will be (A) \(\frac{z}{4}\)

2x=4y=z

4y=z --> y = z/4

2x=z --> x = z/2

x-y = (z/4)-(z/2) = z/4

Is this really a 600-level question? It's hard for me to tell sometimes.

If 2x=4y=z, what is x-y, in terms of z?

A. z/4
B. z/2
C. z
D. 2z
E. 4z

Since we have three equal terms we can create two equations.

2x = z

x = z/2

4y = z

y = z/4

Thus, x - y = z/2 - z/4 = 2z/4 - z/4 = z/4

Answer: A

Hi, I don´t really get why if the result of x- y is 2, goes after "=" as 4. Is it related to what says about in terms of z ? Could you please your answer by breaking into many pieces?
