Area of Triangle = 0.5*b*h
As both triangle ABC and ADC share the same base , and are bounded by two parallel line leading to equal height for each.
Their area would be same.
Statement 1 : AD= 9 , give only information about the one side , so it is insufficient to calculate the area of ADC.
Statement 2 : BE*AC = 24, Area of triangle ABC would be given 0.5* BE*AC so area of triangle of ABC would be 12.
as Area of ABC = ADC, so area of ADC will be also 12.
So statement 2 alone is sufficient so answer would be B

The area of triangles having same base and between same parallel lines are equal.hence,B is the right answer

how do we know that ABC = ADC?
