I think BB highlighted all the important consideration. Apart from that couple of other factors that I would like to highlight are:
- If your goal is consulting, look for # of INTERNATIONAL students that went into consulting. I know that number at Kelley is probably higher than Rice but that’s bcoz of higher batch size and more international students. Currently, EY is the only consulting firm that hires International students from Kelley CAMPUS. Deloitte PwC and KPMG are not recruiting internationals while other top consulting firms don’t hire on campus. During your networking calls with Rice students ask for this data and compare yourself!
- 70-80% of international students want to go into consulting post MBA but hardly 10-15% could make it. So think about your plan B seriously and see which school is has higher probability of getting you there.
- think about where you want to end up post MBA. While international students from Kelley are everywhere across US, good number of us have found work in east and west coast! If you plan to be in Austin - a texas based school is more suitable!
- lower cost of living of university Vs opportunities of big cities (self explanatory I guess)
Hope this helps!
