MBA advice post
I have been a full time entrepreneur for the past 4 years but I want to pivot into either VC or consulting. I plan to dual-recruit for both. I got into Carnegie Mellon on a $130,000 Consortium scholarship, Ross with $55,000 scholarship, Cornell with an $80,000 scholarship through Forte.
If we stay in Michigan where we are now, we can get help with our 18 mo old every other month from family.
My dream firm would be with BCG. I was told Tepper has a strong connection with BCG. I’d like to be placed in Pittsburgh if we move there so I don’t have to relocate my family for the summer internship which would be nice.
Is the alumni network and the much higher ranking of Ross worth the $$$ difference over our lifetime?
One of my main reasons for going to grad school is the network because my husband and I have tried to find jobs for about 10 months with no success and didn’t really have an alumni network to lean on from my undergrad which is making us lean a bit more towards Ross for the network alone over our lifetime.
We do have a toddler where our family is located in Michigan so it is easier to get to them there (4 hours away from Ross) and our daughter’s Godmom is about 4 hours away from Pittsburgh. Whereas in Ithaca we have nobody for support.
I’d love to know other peoples opinions on how they would make this decision. We are going to each of the welcome weekends to help decide as well.
