+1 for D.

Unlike Ancient Greek art which saw the veneration of the animal form and the development of equivalent skills to show musculature, poise, beauty and anatomically correct proportions, Ancient Roman art depicted gods as idealized humans, shown with characteristic distinguishing features.

A. Unlike Ancient Greek art which saw the veneration of the animal form and the development of equivalent skills to show musculature

B. Ancient Greek art saw the veneration of the animal form and the development of equivalent skills to show musculature --> No contrast shown using "while/ unlike"

C. While Ancient Greek art saw the veneration of the animal form and developed equivalent skills to show musculature

D. While Ancient Greek art venerated the animal form and developed equivalent skills to show musculature --> Correct, "While" shows the contrast, " venerated ... developed ... and depicted " are parallel

E. Unlike Ancient Greek art which venerated the animal form and the development of equivalent skills to show musculature

Hence, D.

There are two statements, one underlined and second as base part.

here, we have to take second part of the statement more seriously, give it an extra read,,

ancient greek and ancient roman is compared..
Hence, B is out as nothing is clearly compared in B rather only two statements are placed side by side.

Ancient Roman art depicted gods as idealized humans, shown with characteristic distinguishing features.
"art depicted" in second part of the statement >> option A, B & C uses "art saw veneration" use of saw is not required.. venerated is sufficient.. hence, A, B and C are out.

now down to D & E, option E uses "which", which is not required.. hence E is out.

correct option D.

Would you elaborate why A is wrong?
Unlike can be used only to show contrast between subjects, not between clauses, am I correct?
I understood that:
B is wrong because of run on sentences.
C &E are wrong because of parallelism error.

I think its the "SAW" that makes A incorrect.

Try to read without SAW, I think statement A without saw is a better sentence.

A and E are out for using ‘unlike’. B is incorrect because it leads to two complete sentences, joined by just a comma. C suggests that art developed skills. This does not make sense, so it too is out.

So D is the right option.

I eliminated C,D,E based on the meaning
C says Ancient Greek art developed equivalent skills
D says Ancient Greek art venerated the animal form and developed equivalent skills
E says Ancient Greek art venerated the animal form
Shouldn't all these be incorrect and the correct statement should be "Ancient Greek art which saw the veneration of the animal form and the development of equivalent skills" ie Option A?
