Hi Guys,
Hope Y’all are having a smooth prep experience. I want to share my Gmat experience as I am confident that it will help many of you. I will share my study materials that were super helpful and just a few key tips.
Tbh, with these study materials and tips, you will be able to understand what study plan works the best for you.
I wrote Gmat in November 2018 with just 2 months of preparation. It took me 1 month long to pick out the best resources and understand the study plan that worked the best for me. So, I had only 1 month to prepare according to my plan
I did around 3 mocks and easily managed to get 700+ in all 3. On the main Gmat exam, I got 710 with 50 on the quantitative section. I had over 15 mins left after the last question in the quantitative section and hardly took less than a minute on the first 10 questions. My computer had a problem while I was on the last question of the verbal section and my answer wasn’t going through. I was offered another exam for free but was happy with my score and hence decided not to take it.
I believe that my study resources and tips helped me immensely and hope it helps you as well
Key tips:
1) I think the key to mastering the quantitative section is to understand the question throughly - be very careful of the language. I noticed that Gmat quantitative questions try to trick you just by framing the question in a way that can be interpreted in multiple ways if not read properly. I would recommend to read the question twice or even thrice if you are not sure.
2) Learn multiple ways of solving a problem. Read all the solutions to a problem on GMAT Club. Even if you get an answer right in your way, please read and understand how others are solving the problem. Everyone has an unique way of thinking and approaching a problem and by reading this on a day to day basis, you will learn how to best approach a problem. TBH, this helped me the most.
My math foundation is strong and hence I just needed 10 days to master these tips. If you are not too strong on the fundamentals, I would recommend reading the
Manhattan books. You can solve the GMAT official guide along with you reading of
Manhattan books. I also recommend solving the relevant topic questions on gmat club AND READ ALL SOLUTIONS TO THAT QUESTION. You can also refer to the GMAT Club math book - this is a bit more advance but super helpful
As I have less than 5 posts, Gmat club doesn’t permit me to attach documents. if you are interested to get my study materials, Please comment here with your email id and I shall send you all my study materials, some of which I have made.
