Guys, need your help. I'm an international applicant. I've received Wharton offer with no $ and Darden offer with full scholarship. If I want to work in the US after b-school, which offer should I take? Thanks!!!
Take Wharton.

Being part of the first class with over $100 million in total debt instead of graduating debt free sure seems like something to think about...

It sounds like Wharton is trying to do a better job of communicating with their waitlist this year....just got an email from them saying that there will be regular updates on the third Friday of every month, which is nice.

There are more W/L-ed than accepted at least on the forum. Any clue on what overall R1 W/L numbers may be?
I'm an R1 Wharton/Lauder applicant on the waitlist.

It will all depend on the quality of R2 applicants and the dynamics of R2 overall.

https://poetsandquants.com/2011/08/22/th ... s-fell-on/

But this is not a binary choice, because tuition is only one part of the equation.

To me, this is not the same choice as the following:
1. What to drive: a Lada or a Cadillac?
2. Where to live: US or Vietnam?

But rather something that looks like this:
1. Who to marry: smart, ugly, divorced and rich, or smart, beautiful, never married and middle class?

In for Rd 2. I know, I know, late to the party. I have been working on the application for some time and have had my head buried in the essays, so I haven't spent much time on the forum. I am a Wharton/Lauder applicant for the Portuguese track.

I don't think they have any requirements, as long as it's easy to read for the adcom. I was admitted in R1 and my essays were single spaced, 11 pt Times New Roman, with one space between each paragraph. You could also double space if you want, or use a 12 pt font.

Good luck!

Oh I agree entirely which is why your response of "Take Wharton" "What there to think about?" struck me as something of a simplification.

For those of you that applied in round 1 (and especially those that were successful in gaining admittance to the Lauder program), would you mind helping with the following questions that I had as I filled out the application:

1) Language Proficiency - Is it worth it to list a language that one is learning (obviously it would go as a 0 - Novice)? This is in addition to the language to be used for the program, which in theory should already be in the "2" range.

2) Extracurriculars - I have a couple of activities that are only listed as 1 hour a week. Is this even worth putting? One hour a week is not too bad if you are working crazy hours, but want to get everyone else's feedback. I have others with more significant hours, but would like to fill up the 5 slots if possible.

Wharton is definitely my number 1 choice but no option for international students for alternative loan without a US co-signer is a huge problem. At least for me :(

I believe there will be a loan option for international students. See my comment above.

I'm a successful candidate from R1 this year. I'll share what I've done, though I'm not sure whether it was a good practice or not...

1) I listed some of the language I learned 5-10 years ago. I'm not comfortable using it right now, may need a few brush up... I listed it anyway but ranked it as 0
2) I listed activities that are seasonal and on average it's less than 1hr/week. I worked as a consultant, and from my point of view, 1hr/week teaching blind students is pretty generous when you've crazy working hours...

some additional application questions...

The "Awards" section for college/university: Did you just list them or did you list and explain them?

The "most significant college, university, community and professional awards, honors or scholarships you have received": did you re-list previously described awards? Im thinking I should just double-dip once, pick the "most significant" college honor, and then list that along with some post-college honors.

The TOEFL waiver: Im a born-and-raised English speaking American. Do I need to check that waiver box?

Finally, the "hobbies/interests" section: Its asking for club title, positions held, etc. First, is it going to be a huge hit to just leave this field blank? I dont have any hobbies or interests, beyond what Ive already placed elsewhere in the application, that I can really put into club/organization form.

Thanks for the advice. I think I will do the same.
