Which of the following arguments contains circular reasoning? [#permalink]

Asked: Which of the following arguments contains circular reasoning?

(A) The Bible must be accepted as the revealed word of God, for it is stated several times in the Bible that it is the one, true word of God. And since the Bible is the true word of God, we must accept what it says as true.
Circular reasoning

(B) It must be possible to do something about the deteriorating condition of the nation’s interstate highway system. But the repairs will cost money. Therefore, it is foolish to reduce federal appropriations for highway repair.

(C) The Learner Commission’s Report on Pornography concluded that there is a definite link between pornography and sex crimes. But no one should accept that conclusion because the Learner Commission was funded by the Citizens’ Committee Against Obscenity, which obviously wanted the report to condemn pornography.

(D) People should give up drinking coffee. Of ten people who died last year at City Hospital from cancer of the pancreas, eight of them drank three or more cups of coffee a day.

(E) Guns are not themselves the cause of crime. Even without firearms, crimes would be committed. Criminals would use knives or other weapons.

I just want to point out that you are extremely unlikely to see such a question on the GMAT, so I wouldn't worry too much if you are unsure as to what "circular reasoning" is. :)
